I've not used them but have used the 'buy to let investment calculator' from www.makedigital.com and would recommend it.
There's alot of information out there, i've also used ahuja.co.uk and think he's alright.

Hi Lilly
I would suggest you speak to someone who is already an investor in buy to let property as you will get the best advice from someone who has been there and done it!
Any questions, I will be more than happy to help.
Regards

I can do this for you no problem, if you need the deal done quickly and efficiently and with the best rates and also a stategy to help build a portfolio of properties then come to me.
Firstly a little bit more about The Money Centre and how I can help you as your broker. We are the largest specialist buy to let brokers in the UK and as such we get the best rates. What we really pride ourselves on is the first class service you will receive from The Money Centre and also me as your broker. We package our mortgages, which basically means we do all the paper work for you. We have our own in house underwriters and also work with the valuers, therefore making the process of getting a mortgage faster, smoother and with less hassle.
I'll take care of your case from start to finish, we'll get the application form filled in over the phone. This lender does not give agreement in principles, as long as your credit is fine we will just go ahead and book the valaution and then submit the whole case to them. We will have an offer out to you within 3-4 weeks. Please feel free to email me or call me on 0207 074 0502 and check out our website www.themoneycentre.net

I have a few mechanism's for BTL BMV Properties in Scotland and England whereby I can arrange a mortgage with any BTL UK lender & allow you to base the mortgage on the valuation and not the purchase price this can give you a Cash Back often
Unlike most packagers who have a limited number of lenders on their respective panel's & as such do not cover the whole of the UK BTL market place, I do have access to the whole of the UK market place, as an independent Mortgage Broker,
Presently I am registered with 5 leading packagers,(2 of wich received rewards during 2007),together with my FSA compliant sourcing system so ,unlike a packager,I am not restricted to a few BTL lenders but everyone within the UK
Many lenders do not wish to be on Packagers panels, but as an FSA registered Broker I can also access these So you might be missing out on your choice
In addition, if your BTL proposal, for what ever reason requires to go down the commercial route, again I can assist with the Financing thereon
Regards
John

You might want to consider the plight of this by-to-letter
"Steve Izairi, 32, who re-financed his own house in suburban Dearborn and sold his restaurant to begin buying rental properties in Detroit two years, was concerned that houses he thought were bargains at $70,000 two years ago were now selling for just $35,000."
