When's the best time to start putting money aside for stuff like pensions, life insutance and all that? I don't feel grown up for all that yet (I'm 24) and hardly have any spare cash anyway. I really don't know when or where to start

Hi there, I read somewhere that apparently you're meant to save X/2 % of your income for things like that, where X = your age. So if you're 24, you should be putting aside 12% of your income. I'm 24 too and am currently putting aside 0% of my income... with the price of housing, paying back student loan, etc, etc I've no idea when I'll be reaching 2% let alone 12%! Shaz
