The "l" word!!!!!

Hi, I could use some advice here peeps.
Iv been seeing my boyfriend for almost a year and to get to the point, he has still not said the "L" word. He did send me a valentines card and wrote on it "Hugs + Kisses". I wrote "I love you lots" Iv not told him that i love him in so many words but iv implied it lots. I guess my issue is that im just sure if he does love me or not. I know he likes me lots and he tells me im gorgeous, sexy etc but no I love you. This is the longest relationship iv ever been in and i thought we would have said the L word by now.
Thoughts would be greatly appreciated please.
