Love is uncontrollable?

I saw this advert (http://www.creaturediscomforts.org/play/?v=6), which got me thinking a lot about this

Its basically the story of a disabled person falling in love with someone which no one would suspect. So wondered if this was the case with everyone? and that people's expectations doesn't matter when it comes to true human feelings..

Something i saw

I watched this documentary on pheromones and it was really interesting. the experiment had men wearing plain white tee shirts for a week. the shirts were then washed and given to a group of women who each got to smell and hold the shirts, and then each picked a shirt. the shirts were handed back and then the girls got to meet the men. again each woman was to pick a man but the twist was the women were blindfolded, and almost every woman picked the man that had worn the shirt they picked. so i woud have to say pheromones have to play a pretty big part of chosing our significant others!

Pheremones

It's all about pheromones and facial features. You like someone because their pheremones tell your body that they have a good enough variety of genes in order to have children with you. Pheremones are also addictive, which is why you can't stop thinking about someone when they're gone, because you're craving their pheremones... well something like that... and facial features play an important part too. We are genreally attracted to people with facial features which are symetrical, because if they're symetrical then they are more likely to be healthy (in a non insulting way)... just something I read in a amagazine, don't know if it's true or not :S

Plus it explains why we sometimes fancy not-so-good-looking people I suppose, or why other people fancy people we might think "no thanks" to.

So in a subconcious way, I suppose we only THINK that we have control over it. But pheremones are scentless, but are still detected. I personally find it amazing.

P.s. I don't know if this is all acurate, just stuff I've heard

wow, thanks for that info kittycom. had no idea there was such depth in the subject, very interesting to read and i might read a bit more in to it and see what else on Pheremones there is out there.
