I want to treat him... but i'm kind of broke.

Recently I've been low on funds and unable to fund a social life. The problem is that my boyfriend (lovely as he is) is paying for alot and being a modern, independant woman... I don't want all the cost to go on him. I mean... it's nice that he wants to take me out for dinner, I'm certainly not complaining, but I just want to give some back. For example, on his birthday I made him a lovely, homemade three course meal... which he loved and I've also made up a picnic and took him out for a walk and just stopped and had rose wine and sandwiches. I'm just running out of ideas. He keeps taking me out and I feel like he's putting all this effort in and I'm unable to repay him and show my affection equally. In an ideal world I would have enough money spare to buy myself some nice underwear he hasn't seen yet and have a cosy, romantic night in. I just don't want him thinking I'm all take, take, take.

Get creative!

I totally understand where you are coming from, as will many; we have all been there, but when your bank account isn't enough it is time to get creative Granted, you can't afford to buy the latest designer lingerie; how about the likes of primark? Peacocks? They're affordable but still reasonably sexy - a saucy negligee for a fiver - bargain! And what about getting saucier? How about a bottle of whipped cream? £2 at the most and truly delicious and fun! Or a bottle of chocolate sauce? Yummy and sexy..not to mention cheap! I was broke on Valentines day so simply bought a bottle of chocolate sauce and whipped cream - it was the best night 'in' we'd ever had and he loved my creativity
You need to stop worrying about finances - men are simpler creatures than we are and they prefer gifts on a more "personal" level, no everything doesn't have to be about sex but it's a fun way of enjoying yourselves and free!
If that doesn't blow your skirt up; how about a surprise dvd? £5 or going retro and making him a personalised cd compilation? Thoughtful and a keepsake.
All you need is a little creativity and you'll be fine. Besides, men like to treat their girlfriends it's the modern equivalent of breaking home the bacon - so stop stressing. I am just as bad as you, when it comes to independence, but we forget, sometimes, men would prefer us being a little less independent, as it can be a bit intimidating - what woman needs a man if she loves being so strong and independent? Loosen up a little, by letting him treat you - it's just that - a treat - nothing more and nothing less. Return the favour and relight your fire Good luck and remember; Be Creative! x xx x

Thanks

I think I will give the whipped cream idea a go hehe... but I wouldn't have thought that guys would prefer to be the ones doing the treating... I guess I just get a little edgy at the idea of not paying for myself... I always do... like on dates and stuff... and now I'm not exactly raking the money in... it's been a big adjustment. I thought about going old school and making a CD... but I was scared he would think it was lame lol. But I'm thinking mulled wine and snuggles for christmas lol. Thanks for your help. Any more ideas are still welcome

Oh and my friend recently suggested handmade coupons... everyone loves a coupon for kisses and huggles lol... I know I do hehe x

Love coupons

Oh absolutely! Love coupons! I have used these many a time and they work a treat! Mine were simple and very successful - along the lines of "The coupon entitles the bearer to one b-job and endless s*x for one evening only. For further details please contact mistress INSERT NAME". He loved them! And again..loved the creativity. Just think outside of the box and you'll be laughing!

Totally agreed!

Damn, candydrop, that's the best prezzie reply I've ever read. It's so true!
I can't add anythin, cos you've just bombed everything down perfectly, but you're right; men do prefer more personalized gifts, even if they are of low cost, and men do prefer to treat their girlfriend as opposed to being treated by them XD
