French living in uk - advice on change of name post wedding
Hi everyone, Hopefully some of you will be in a similar situation and have plenty of advice to give me. I am a French national living in the UK and recently married in the UK. I wish to have a double barrel name with my maiden name and my married name. It looks like the safest way to get the bank, DVLA, etc to recognise this in the UK is through a deedpoll. However this deedpoll wouldn't apply back to my passport as under French law, you keep your maiden name on official documents. So at best, my passport would show my maiden name followed by épouse + married name. Has anyone done this in the past, and have you encountered any issues with for example travelling overseas or any other situations where you've had to show your ID which doesn't match for example your bank card? Any other issues also later on if your children have only their father's name rather than your double barrel name? Not sure if I'm making myself clear but I can't find info on this... Thanks a lot, Ingrid
