| Thread started by: | "Bride's speech" Posted by shadowcat9 28 February at 12:03
Mybest friend is getting married in the summer, but sadly has no living parents. Her sister and brother-in-law will be taking over, so she wants to say something to them for being there on the day and include everyone else who helped out. I know it's quite unconventional, but she wants to make a speech before the Best Man. has anyone got any ideas?

I think a bride nowadays should make a speech, after all it's her day too & she's done most of the organising. To get up & thank people who she wants to thank is a lovely idea, but try & not make it too serious as it may be on her mind all day. I have 16 weeks before I tie the knot & every day I think of something different to say in my speech so at this rate I'll be 2 hours talking, but heh, who cares. It's my day, & I'll say what I want to say & for maybe the first time in my life, people will have to sit & listen!!! Tell your friend to "go for it girl".

I always think of my wedding day as a fun event, if I had to make a speech I'd only work myself up into a terrified frenzy and mess it up, thereby ruining the whole day... But each to their own I guess. What's wrong with the groom doing it? It's his day too!

People think there is some sort of rule book when it comes to weddings, I think, do what you like (within reason )

I didn't speak at my wedding but I now wish I did....but I did have my bridesmaid do a speech! Kind of like the best man's but she told all my dark secrets...it was very funny and very, very kind!
