I've had it done... just wait and try not to worry

HI

I had a bulbous tip reduction back in 2002. I have to admit after the bandages came off a week after the op i was really disappointed and depressed as the tip of my nose didn't look any different to before!! I thought i had wasted money and time and it was so depressing to have gone thru all that and not get the results straight away.

After a few months i did gradually notice that the tip was going down. Its just a really slow process so you might not notice it at first... take some pictures now and compare them in a year or 6 months. Now when i look at old pictures i can see a visible difference and my nose looks a lot better. It really does take time as the body will have scar tissue and swelling and its only really when the nose has fully healed that you will see the end result. I recall that my nose still felt slightly numb when i touched it for over a year later. I think it took about a year to see the final result.

So please don't worry too much... at the end of the day if the worse happens and the result is not what you paid for you should go back to your surgeon and they should repeat the procedure for free. I think you are within your rights to demand this.

But the chances are that you won't need this

i have been told it can take upto 18 months for all the swelling to go. i am 8wks post op, my tip is slightly swollen and also where the bump was removed, also it's still numb, but my results are great, and when the swelling goes compleatly im sure it will be amazing. you are very early days yet, give it some time, but if you are really concerned speak to your nurse or surgen.

Same problem! swollen tip & visible nostrils!

I can fully relate to these experiences. I had a full rhinoplasty & septoplasty done 5 days ago, and am having my cast taken off tomorrow. I have been quite lucky in that I have had very little bruising & swelling in my eyes & face, except for the tip of my nose. The main reason I had this done was to remove a hump on the bridge of my nose - no tip work. But my surgeon insisted in lifting my tip 1mm, so i respected his professional judgement. Well, the hump is now gone so I'm happy with that part, but my tip which used to be quite pointy & refined, is not rounded & bulbous! And before you couldn't see my nostrils when you looked at me face-on, but now you can and I look like Miss Piggy! Which is exactly what I said to my surgeon I did NOT want to happen! So I'l reeeeeeally hoping this is only because the tip is swollen, and am praying it will drop again once the swelling goes down...otherwise I want my old nose back!
Any of you have the same experience? Does the bulbous tip go away & drop a bit in time?

Miss piggy look alike

How is ur nose now????

33 days and still have swelling on tip of my nose

Hi Mish6 years a go i had a bump removed on the bridge of my nose but the surgeon didnt alter the tip, therefore my tip became droopy so i had to have open rhinoplasty and tip reduction as well as having my nostrils made smaller. I had no problems the first rhinoplasty i had but this one where do i start, i still look piggy but not as bad as i did before so there is some hope but the tip of my nose is still piggy and up in the air though not as bad as before. Its day 33 and ihave been called piggy, weird looking and had people stare at me as if i am an alien. I hate anyone looking at me!!!!!! I used to be so confident but thats all gone with having the rhinoplasty. I have just started with a course of herbal meds to reduce the swelling, i am taking Bromelain, Turmeric and quertain. Day 2 of taking med, fingers crossed they reduce the swelling. I can't cope with this anymore and when people say wait, or it will take up 2 a year for the swelling to go down i want to swear at them!!!!! Let me know how your nose is xx

its been over 3 months and my nose was terrible and i have had my nostrils re shaped and my nose made a little smaller. It was all done under local and i am the happiest i have been since i had it done. My advice to u all is don't wait, if ur unhappy now u will be in 6 months or 1 year. I couldn't live like this so i had mune done, it was a little tweaking and it did the job. I am swollen but not to the extent i was before and guess what i am HAPPY!!!! i never thought it would be something I would say. Good luck everyone xxxx

Rhinoplasty

Apparently, it takes ages for the swelling to go down after rhinoplasty. You only had it done a couple of weeks ago. You need to give it time. Hopefully someone who has had it done will be able to advise you more specifically.

I am booked in for rhinoplasty as well as LDVR/DLV in September, so I would also be interested to hear.
