Rhinoplasty swelling getting me down

im 11 days post op after an open rhinoplasty and although im generally pleased with my new nose the swelling around the tip and at the top of my nose between my eyes is making me look awful, can someone please reassure me that this will go down, i never realised i would be house bound for so long, its really getting me down and i cant bear seeing anyone

My name is Emma, I'm just in my last year at uni and I'm doing my dissertation on cosmetic surgery. I'm interested to find out more about it and what happens when people arn't happy with the results.

What is happening in your case? Is there any way that you can sue your surgeon for his negligence?

I know its a sensetive subject but I would appreciate it so much if anyone could help me? I'm more interested in the oppinion of people who have actually had surgery than in what the surgeons say.

I havnt read the posts below but rhino can take a year for the final nose to appear. swelling, bruising differs person to person. Im 3weeks post op and all i have is a numb tip. I had my cast off at 12days. Has your cast come off? Your nose can only get better. I know this could be like that for ages. If you want to see my pics msg me xx

Give it time

Swelling following this type of operation can last weeks, 11 days it quite soon, my husband was in a splint for 14 days. Swelling took at least 3 weeks and still had some small amount on the tip of his nose for a while after. It is not an instantanious result, you need to wait a little while and i am sure it will be great. Still swollen

im 6 weeks post op and still house bound! but it looks much better than it was 11 days post op. if you like your nose now it will only get better. Im sure you will be fine very soon! keep your chin up everyone whos had rhinoplasty can probably understand where you are coming from.the swelling between my eyes is completely gone now... you have to give it time! eleven days is nothing think what your nose has went through. i went out about a week ago and noone even noticed! but im bak in the house because I am so self conscious and have come to realise I have to just not be so hard on myself sit in relax and stay positive!

thank you so much for replying, I'm sorry you are still house bound, are you not happy with the result then? I wish i hadnt told ANYONE i was having it done because I feel that when they see me they will be critical. The people that have seen me are just shocked by the swelling and bruising and not one has said my nose looks better! quite disheartening, but yes i am too trying to stay positive, hope all goes well thanks again for the words of encouragement
