2months post op and very very swollen,is this normal? really really down

I Know that swelling is normal up to a year after rhinoplasty. however my nose is still much larger than it was before the surgery! my nose is far too large looking for my face when before surgery I did not mind my nose from the front I asked for less projection and hump removal, having a closed rhinoplasty. Most people say by this stage your final result is there and that refinements happen over the next few months. My nose looks terrible and it has become an obsession I feel panicky If I have to go out. My nose is still tender and when I make certain faces I feel a small amount of pain.I have an appointment with my surgeon in 2days and dont even know where to begin with questions. I almost feel bad for not liking my nose and Im scared of his reaction. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! x

Well i have just had corrective surgey after having my 1st surgery done 29th July. Like u i was so unhappy that it took over my life. I made the decision against docs orders and had a small op, took half an hour and i am soooooooooooooo happy. I am still swollen but i look better then b4, i was obsessed by my nose, i felt ugly and was deeply depressed and if ur not happy i would suggest corrective surgery. I have to say closed rhino heals quicker than open and i had open. 6 months and u will be ok but u have to have faith hun. Be strong and if ur not happy get something done sooner rather than later. dnt let the PS tell u whats what, u have to live with ur nose not him!!!! The pain is either an infection or just u healing. Try not to pull faces, let ur body heal. xx

Totally devastated

I went to my surgeon and he said its only been 3 weeks! I was astounded he obviously couldnt even remember my surgery or me. I replied that it had been almost 9 he proded round my nose and there was some pain, he replied there is not alot of swelling and that I shouldnt expect much change. I then asked to see before and after photos and he said he had lost over 700 patient photos on his harddrive, however the company I went with should have some. He said if your still not happy I will see you in a year and we will think about another op! I am totally devastated. my nose is so shapeless and still looks upturned. My life is in turmoil he asked me what I didnt like and then just looked at me like I was stupid. I dont know what to do.
I dont have the money for another op with another surgeon,because I doubt very much I could put myself under the knife again with him. I was keeping positive with the fact that I was really swollen and was hoping he would say it was just swelling but he seems happy with the result. I feel like I have ruined myself I used to think my nose was my flaw now I feel like my whole face looks ugly.

I don't know whether it will help you to lnow you are not alone - lots of people are left devastated after a bad nose job. The truth is that it's one of the most difficult cosmetic ops and very few surgeons specialise in it. You should never go to a High St clinic for rhinoplasty. The best UK names are Basim Matti, Ian McKay and Julian Rowe-Jones.

If your nose is really bad try and get some money back from the clinic. The fact he won't show you your pix is probably a sign that he knows he's botched your nose.

Lookyourbestuk has a dedicated forum - lots of people will support you there. No surgeon will usually revise before you're a year post-op but sharing with people who really understand what you're going thru may help just a little.

My surgeon was Mr Gonschior and hes fabulous-a maxifacial surgeon specializing in the face. I am 2weeks post op and look 10years younger after my op. Just a tad numb on the tip but I cant see it-just feel it. For pictures msg me.
