2 consultations and 2 very different approaches.

Ok , I had my consultation with Dr Jooste at Bodysmooth. Pleasant enough guy and he took his time to explain the procedure. No complaints.

But while I was convinced Vaser was the best option for my double chin from my research he suggested Smart Lipo with laser as more tightening would occur.

My research suggested that Vaser was a better option but I'm no doctor so I listened intently. However then he said he would make two incision by each ear and target the under chin fat AND also the cheeks and jawline, finishing up at the corners of my mouth.

Ok, this confused me and surprised me. I hadn't heard of this and maybe it's my lack of research but Dr Bassi never suggested this and he was only going to make one incision under the chin and come at it from a frontal direction.

Also sucking out cheek and jaw fat seems risky. Any errors would be very visible.

I don't know. Very confused now. Who's right?

Stop!

pls dont get it dun if u havent dun already! i went to get my chin done, dr jooste said he wud blend in the face slightly, which i thought wudnt b a prob, he was the only 1 id been 2 regarding smartlipo, i have now got a completely differnt face shape, dents in my cheek which he had to fill with fillers (these are temporary)
its sooo obvious to all that ive had surgery dun, i hate my face now, my face is uneven, lumpy and denty! im going back on nov 25th for my final 4 month chek up. not happy at all.

Sorry to hear.

really sorry to hear about you experience!!

thanks for the warning.

i haven't decided on a doctor yet and following you post it looks like a lucky escape.

i had concerns about touching the jaw and face and i asked the questions on an american forum and the doctors there said jaw /cheek/ face lipo is a very difficult procedure to get right and requires a great deal of skill.

i was concerned when Dr Jooste suggested it so readily, that in itself raised a red flag.

i'm actually considering having it done in the States. i haven't been very impressed so far by our "recommended" Uk doctors.

hope it works out for you.

Oh oh difficult one

my advice for what its worth is go with your gut reaction!! you might not be a doctor but your gut reaction is often the best predictor of outcomes, hope this helps somewhat
whatever you decide good luck

.

Hi Shanti,

It's been a while since you started this thread, and perhaps you've already made a decision? But if not, perhaps you should discuss what Dr Jooste said with Dr Bassi and see how he responds? He might give you some information as to why he hasn't suggested that. Or he might say he can do the same but didn't think it was an issue for you??

Let us know how you get on x
