My vaser lipo experience at bodysmooth

Hi All

I thought I'd drop a note to let anyone who may be interested know my own experience of vaser lipo. Before going through with the procedure I got alot of advice from some people on here (Shamzi and Number1mum!) and now realise how important it is for people to keep telling their story so that anyone interested in this procedure has as much information as possible. So here goes the long post......

Firstly I am 26 and a size 10/12. I have always had a problem with my stomach and would rarely wear anything tight as I was too paranoid about my bulge. No amount of time at the gym or time spent dieting would help it. I had my consultation with Dr Pieter Jooste about 2 weeks before my procedure and found him to be extremely patient and informative. He answered all my questions, should me previous pictures of patients and in general made me feel very comfortable with the whole thing. I went ahead with my procedure on Friday 25th September. I had my upper and lower abs done and had a combination of both smart and vaser lipo. Let me tell you now that for me this was not lunchtime lipo! I was given about 8 pills to take before the procedure began, this was a combination of painkillers and some kind of relaxant. The relaxant didnt really work for me (or maybe I was just so nervous that I didnt feel any major effect) The worst part by far was the local anesthetic. I had two incisons made, one on my bikini line and one in my bellybutton. I did not look at the rods/cannulas as I did not want to scare myself even more but boy did I feel them. I have never felt pain like it. The sensation of a big rod going through my bellybotton and up to just under my boobs is one I will take a long time to forget, I dont mean to scare anyone here, everyones different but this is just how I felt about it. Once the anesthetic had all gone in and the procedure actually started I felt very little. the sensation was just like someone was feeling around inside you. I could feel what was happening but it wasnt hurting. A couple of times I had a little pain and at this stage Dr Pieter would stop and inject more anesthetic. It took about 2 hours and they removed 2 litres! Dr Pieter was fantastic throughout and constantly reassured more. Once done I had gauze applied to my wounds and helped into my garment. I then went out to reception and had a glass of water. During this time I had completely leaked and had to have more gauze applied before I was on my way home. That first evening I felt next to no pain and remember thinking 'this is fantastic, why havent I done this before'! The pain kicked in once the anesthetic wore off and it wasnt good. That night I leaked loads, I woke up several times in the night as I had to sleep on my back and this is not how I usually sleep. Each time I woke I was soaked through. The following day I stopped leaking thank god and the next day or 2 I felt alot of pain. I could not sit up straight, could not sit in the car even as a passenger, and in general was very stiff and could not do much. I took painkillers but they made me sick a few times so tried to take less than I would have liked to, or than I needed to.

On the following Tuesday I went back to Bodysmooth for them to check me over. I had bad bruising all over the front of my stomach. It was black. I also had some bubbling skin to the left of my bellybutton which Dr Pieter said can sometimes be caused by the Vaser. It looks similar to sunburn. He applied an antibiotic cream to my whole stomach and applied dressings that he secured with loads of surgial tape and told me I could not remove this until I went back to see him again today. He also increased the amount of days I am on antibiotics for from 5 to 10. The following day I was concerned at the colour the dressing had turned overnight. It had turned a beigey/yellowy colour (frustrating as I couldnt shower properly because I couldnt remove the dressing) I text Dr Pieter and sent him a picture message. He called me back shortly over and explained that this was normal.

I have been back again today where the dressing was removed. The bruising has reduced dramatically. The bubbling is still there and he had given me a mixture of antibiotic and vaseline which I need to apply every 2 days and keep covered with a dressing at all times. He thinks that this should be healed in about 10 days and has asked me to email him a picture in 7 days so he can monitor it and see when I should go back in next.

Over the past few days I have noticed (and felt) lots of swelling. I am still in my garment and intend to continue wearing this for as long as possible. At least until I have to stop applying dressings.

I can clearly see results already and think once the swelling, bruising, bubbling skin, goes I will be extremely happy with the results. I am feeling less and less pain now. I do sometimes feel pain if I sit down for too long or sitting up in the morning but I suppose this is to be expected when you have work done on your abs. Although the whole bubbling skin situation is unfortunate I cannot fault them on their aftercare. I have been back for two follow up appointments and it has only been 7 days since my procedure and have also spoken to Dr Pieter on the phone. I have been assured that my skin will not be scarred because of this and at this stage can only trust what they say.

I hope this has been of some help to some of you out there and if you have any questions at all please let me know

x

Swelling

Any tips on swelling? Ho ware you doing now? Have you noticed any improvement?
I had my legs done on the 1st of October and was wondering how long did it take for the swelling to come down?
