Vaser lipo to upper arms, the private clinic, knightsbridge this past thursday (22 oct)
Hi,
I thought I'd share my experience as this forum really helped me to make decisions regarding Vaser. I had two consultations and chose Dr Mike Comins, who made me feel so much better than the other guy. Sorry, I can't remember his name, but he was a Brazilian doctor from Botonics-I just thought Dr Comins was more personable and more familiar with the treatment.
I decided to go for my upper arms, lower & upper abs, all of which were to be done at the same time (Wed). I was apprehensive about having them all done at the same time b/c of healing time/discomfort, etc.
I got a call from the clinic on Wed. telling me they were having problems with one of the machines and could I come back on Thursday. That sort of threw a wrench in the works as I was planning two days off work and two days over the weekend to recover. I decided it was a 'sign' telling me not to do both at the same time and went in on Thursday only for the upper arms.
Dr Comins was great and made me ffeel right at ease. He gave me 2 low dose, fast acting lorazapam (Valium) which helped a lot as I was kind of nervous-who wouldn't be?! I changed into a gown, he marked out the areas to be treated and took 'before' photos. His assistant was friendly and helpful and they both made sure I was OK. He began the process by numbing my elbows (I wasn't looking but he told me what he was doing at the beginning) which pinched a bit. Then he put in the local anesthetic, which didn't hurt at all, but just felt like a strange sensation. I was numb instantly. Then he did the vaser, which didn't seem to take long, then the suction. Nothing hurt at all. They kept asking if I was ok and I told them it didn't hurt, it's just a rather strange sensation at times. I told him on a scale of 1-10, the pain was maybe 0.5-2? They did the second arm and I did feel one twinge, at which point I told him and he put more anesthetic in. Once it was over, they helped me into the compression garments and I went home! I would say the whole thing took an hour. If I were to have had all three areas done I think it would have been more like 3 hours which would have been too much for me!
I was originally going to take a taxi but I felt absolutely fine so I took the tube! I would say when I go back for the stomach I will definitely take a taxi just to be on the safe side. I went home and rested and felt fine, just slightly uncomfortable mainly because the compression garments are even tighter with the padding for the drainage. My arms were slightly tingely as the anesthetic wore off. My mother and sister are both nurses and they say the best way to manage after-surgery pain is to stop it before it starts. It's a lot harder to get comfortable once any pain kicks in. So I decided to take the pain killers (500g paracetamol w/ 30mg codeine) about 3 hours after I got home and then every 4 hours thereafter. I felt fine the whole time, maybe a little sorry for myself!!
I slept through the night and woke up and decided I felt fine to go into work, so I did! I only have a part time desk job so I figured better go in rather than use a sick day if I felt fine. In hindsight, I should have stayed home, only because getting to/from work using public transport was exhausting and I was a bit uncomfortable and worried someone would bump into me!!
I came home Friday around 2pm and relaxed for the rest of the day/evening. I took off the padding on Friday afternoon and that made things a lot more comfortable-I replaced the padding with pantyliners (ha!) but didn't need them after all. The leakage was maybe 100-150 mls on either side and stopped after 24 hours. I noticed while I was at work that the incisions were tingly/verging on painful and I'm wondering if that's because the anesthetic was still leaking out.
Today (Sat morning)I am slightly bruised on the underside of my arms, but I also have very, very fair skin so I think bruises show very easily on me. I have been taking arnica tablets (have the gel as well which I applied today, Sat) and I think this helps. I've used arnica for bruises before and I really do think it's beneficial. I haven't taken pain meds since last night around 9pm and don't need them today-it feels like I have been doing tricep exercises but I'm not in any pain, just a bit sore. My arms definitely look a bit swollen, but only to me, as they are thinner than they were. It's 10:45am on Saturday and I had the treatment at 3pm on Thursday. I still plan to take it easy today, the most activity I will do is take the dog on a nice long walk.
So far I'm very happy and feel fine. Yesterday I felt a bit more achy but of course it was the day after! I'm going back in one month for the stomach (that will be vaser lipo and also hi-def)and will do that on a Friday, rest over the weekend and possibly take Monday off. I think the most important things to do are take arnica, rest, drink lots of water and take the pain meds on a regular basis-before you start feeling like you need them. There is no sense to be in discomfort when you don't have to be. I'll report back in a day or two.
Sorry this is so long, but I wanted to be as detailed as possible. This forum really helped me and I hope my post has helped you! I'm happy to answer any other questions as well.

Update-day 12/13
Hi, my latest update is Wednesday, 13 days after Vaser. I am still wearing the garment 24 hours a day (minus of course when I take it off to shower/wash it or to put arnica gel on). I must say I'm disappointed in how much my one arm is still bruised. My right arm's bruises are almost entirely gone. I think by Friday they should be invisible. However... my left arm (I'm a lefty, wonder if there's any correlation?) is still bruised, a nasty mix of purple, green and yellow.
I've been using arnica gel 2-3 x a day and taking the tablets as well. I've only just read that an increase in Vitamin C will help speed things up, so I've been taking 1000-1500 mg per day. Also apparently warm compresses (not for the first few days!!!) are supposed to help, according to various websites.
In terms of how they look, both arms are still around 10 inches around, whereas before they were 10.5-11. I'm not that thrilled with that, I was hoping for more like 9 inches-super skinny arms!! But I'm sure I'm still swollen...
They still feel sore-sometimes my arms (elbows also) feel like they're burning but they mainly are just sore to the touch and sometimes ache a bit in the morning.
I hope the bruises fade b/c I am excited to finally wear short sleeves in a few days after I no longer have to wear this dredded compression garment 24 hours a day!
Also, I should mention, I'm beginning to wonder if I will go through with the stomach. It seems like a much longer recovery period than I had thought. Not sure I want to spend so much time being uncomfortable! I will either cancel or maybe have it done after xmas/new years...

Snap i also had vaser on upper arms
Hello , i also had vaser lipo on upper arms with Dr Bassi in Nottingham uk, he gave me chill pills prior to the treatment which helped immediately which was great i hardly felt the lipo being done, i was helped into my garment and went to the travellodge had booked there for 3 nights , i went out for a meal with my partnert hat night , i was very very faint when my pads were changed the first few days and i was swollen and bruised but took arnica, the best thing for me was staying near the clinic for 2 days as Br B and Mags were wonderful. the best thing about DR B is he tells it how it is if he cannot do something for you he will say and he o ffers realistic results for people, I am overjoyed i have lost 21/2 inches off each bingowing and now just waiting for the skin tightening to do its job. I would like vaser high def on my upper and lower abs but DR B says that because i have a scar there he doesn't feel happy to do it but has offered me the name of another surgeon who can do a scar revision and TT and lipo at the same time(well maybe) but i think i'll head for belguim for this one as it's an expensive procedure. am glad your feeling good . good on you girl!!

Update
Hi,
Today is 6 days after treatment. My arms are still a bit sore, which is more like a deep muscle ache, more so in the mornings but I think that also has to do with the compression garment being kind of annoying to sleep in. I haven't taken any pain killers (no need) since Sunday. Bruises are pretty ugly but fading rapidly, due to the arnica gel and tablets. I'm also drinking lots of water-not sure if this helps matters along but it certainly can't hurt!! My arms already look slimmer-before the treatment they were 11" around and now they are 10" but still swollen. The surgical tape came off one of my elbows on day 4 and that incision is a bit more noticable than the other one, which I had removed the tape this morning. That incision is barely noticable. For my stomach I will make sure to get extra tape so if it comes off I can put some more on.
So far very happy but annoyed I'm a bit sore-I may postpone having my stomach done til after the holidays...

Hi,
I don't notice a huge difference at the moment, to be honest. It's only been 14 days though. I'm still pretty bruised so I would imagine if there is still bruising present then there is still swelling...I'm hoping so anyway!! 2K seems like a lot to pay for 1/2 an inch!
