Vaser lipo at the bodysmooth clinic with dr peter joost
Hi there, this is my first thread at the 'sofeminine' forum so hello all!! I have a consultation with Dr Joost on Friday for Vaser Lipo at the Bodysmooth clinic in Oxford Circus in London. Has anyone else had any experience with this clinic and Dr Joost? I know there are a lot of people who put their day to day comments on here after the procedure and I will be happy to do so if anyone is interested, with before and after pictures etc.
If anyone could give me any feedback about the clinic and the surgeon I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

9 days post vaser
Hello all. It's 9 days now since I had my upper and lower abs done at Bodysmooth with Dr Jooste. It's not been the best experience of my life, I can tell you that much! I am pretty sure though that the reason my experience may be different/worse to that of others is that my procedure was pretty drastic, and nothing to do with the clinic or Dr. Jooste. He said he was going to take as much fat as he could, and that he did! He took almost five litres in all, which I was told was very radical and my body has gone through a major trauma.
I'm still very sore and swollen and most of my stomach is numb and very hard. I've been told this is all normal and my body will take time to recover. It's difficult to stay positive and try and focus on the end result when you're so uncomfortable all the time. Hopefully it will all start to get better soon and I'll be looking good by the time my holiday comes in November!
Louise, I hope everything went well for you! x

You are so right!!!!!!!!!!
hello shamzi!!!
yes i think you are right...i am 16 days after by upper / lower abdomen with dr jooste and 11 days after the inner thighs.... i have to say i had 1 litre of pure fat (not including the anesthetic etc) taken from the abdomen and already on day 2 - 3 i felt OK (but with numbness). either way vaser and smart lipo are invasive and traumatic to the body so the larger the trauma the longer the recovery.
hang in there and remember to take it easy!!!!
soon enough you will see the results.....i know i saw them immediately but then had some fluid build up, which i heard is not uncommon. all in all i think it is still worth it....!!!!!

Experience with bodysmooth
Hi there, this is my first message on this forum so I will try not to go on too long. Hope you are ok after your procedure wiht bodysmooth. I read up loads before making my final decision to opt with bodysmooth and to be honest was influenced by those who have used body smooth on this forum. I went for a consultation this morn. and have booked myself in for next week thursday. I am going away myself in November and am just worried that every thing will have calmed down with regards to swelling, bruise etc. I would also know how much roughly it changes your size. The man I saw said they can take out as much as i want ? I thought that sounded too good to be true. i would not mind a few inches off my hips or thighs, going down one dress size would please me and even out my strange body shape. any information on your results would be great . Sorry for such a long message just so curious and worried that it will not be ok for hol. many thanks

Hi loopylou
Yes, I'm feeling better each day, although still no way near normal yet and uncomfortable most of the time, but A LOT better, and seeing the results makes it all worthwhile I tell ya! All the visible bruising has gone, and was gone within the first week, I think that's down to taking the arnica, and rubbing on loads every day so make sure you are stocked up. I am still swollen and my stomach still hard and a bit lumpy, but that has also got alot better in the last few days. I think I have gathered some fluid around the hip areas as it's not as hard there. Has anyone had to go back in to Bodysmooth to get any fluid drained? Is it terrible?
I'm not sure if I've gone down a full size yet Lou it's hard to tell being still swollen, but my problem was basically the fat in the areas above and below my waistline. I have tried on some trousers and tops that I couldn't wear before because of the 'overhang', and they look fantastic. How big are you at the moment if you don't mind me asking? I think this treatment is perfect to even out a disproportional body shape. That's why I wanted my tummy done because it just didn't go with the rest of me, I don't have big legs or anything else cos all my weight just went to my stomach. If I don't speak to you before your procedure, good luck! Make sure you look after yourself afterwards, lots of good food and water, plenty of vitamins and arnica. Put something on the bed to stop you ruining your mattress due to leakage! Get plenty of gauze and tape incase what they give you runs out like it did with me. Also, I would suggest that you buy your own compression garment as the one they give you isn't really fit for the purpose, unless they give you one with poppers so you can go to the loo without dragging the really tight lycra pants up and down your tender skin. It's not pleasant! Take care!

Body smooth this week
Hi shamz, thank you for your reply i am really apprenhensive to say the least. How long do you leak for as you mentionned buying more gauze . i really do not know what to expect as i was late for my appointment and it was pretty rushed. I did not ask all the things I needed to . am i right in thinking your was a coulpe of weeks ago? when do you tnihk you are over the worst do you think I will be able to go out over the weekend ?Having it done on Thursday. does the compression garment and swelling make you look a lot bigger?I was thinking leggings and long top would do the trick? Don 't want to keep asking questions but any tips you give are fab. thanks for all your advice , loopy lou x

Loopy lou
Everything will depend on how much you are having taken out and how drastic your procedure is Lou. I had leakage for two or three days. The compression garment hasn't made me look bigger, in fact it holds everything in and makes you look smaller if anything. All you need are some high waisted control pants if you are getting your abs done. I wouldn't say leggings and a top are "compression" enough to be honest. Although I have a lot of swelling, I am still a lot smaller thank I was, but then again I had 5 litres of fat taken so there is always going to be an immediate difference when that amount of fat is expelled from your body. If I don't speak to you, good luck!

Draining fluid...
hi.... just to respond to your question... i had a build up of fluid and had to have it drained.... the knees were looking rather large... its not painful as you have a local anesthetic (the needs are very thin so you really dont feel anything...or very little). i did nearly faint so had to lie down, but that doesnt mean too much because each time i have a blood test i feel faint.... in fact i am rather bad with needles in general so god only knows how i went through with this procedure.
take care!!

Almost 5 weeks post vaser...
Hello All. It'll be five weeks tomorrow since I had 5 litres of fat, yes, 5 LITRES sucked out of my upper and lower abs and I just thought I'd let you know how I'm getting on. My stomach is looking better as every week goes by, by still not reached full recovery by a long shot. I still have pain and numbness but that's to be expected I guess for such a radical procedure.
I have been following a regime of pills, potions and lotions in order to aid my recovery and I think it has definitely helped. I have been using Bio Oil, then arnica cream, then echinacea cream, then calendula cream on my tummy every day, so the condition of my skin is really nice and soft and gives a better appearance. I'm taking multi-vitamins, vitamin c with zinc, arnica and calendula tincture every day also.
I'm still wearing a compression garment every day for most of the day. I have bought loads of highwaisted shapewear knickers type things from everywhere, but the best and most comfortable thing I have found is this body shaper from Marks and Spencer. As it's an all in one so it doesn't cut in to your skin below your bra line like I've found a lot of the others have. it's been my life saver actually! Here is the link; http://www.marksandspencer.com/Marks-and-Spencer-Gathered-San toni/dp/B002G4QZAW?ie=UTF8&categoryNod eID=42967030&node=43277030&pag e=&mnSBrand=core&rh=
I have definitely gone down one trouser size, almost two actually. There is still swelling, hardness and lumpiness, especially around the hip areas but it's getting better and when it's gone I'll expect to have gone down two or more sizes. When I put on clothes I couldn't wear before, it makes everything worth it to be honest, I have an unbelievable hour glass figure, and when I turn to the side and it's all flat underneath my boobs, I can hardly believe it's me! My boyfriend calls me Jessica Rabbit!
It has been by no means an easy ride, and I am still uncomfortable a lot of the time, even at this stage, but it IS getting better, and the results are amazing. I hope you are all doing well, and thanks for listening!

Number1mum...
Thanks number1mum! I had my consultation with Pieter on Friday and it went really well. I'm booked in for upper and lower abs on Wednesday! He is going to do a combination of Vaser and Smart Lipo as he said that will get the best results. I'm so excited but also bloomin scared! Can you give me the low down on the pain level during the procedure...be honest! What areas did you have done? Can you give me a blow by blow account?!!! S x

Hi
Sorry for not responding sooner. I'm thinking you may have already had your procedures?? If not then here is what it was like for me................ There were times (very short periods) with my abs that the pain was enough to make me say thta 'that hurt'. On the couple of occassions that I did this Dr Jooste stopped (apologised, lol) and then continued often with less pain felt. I do remember thinking at tomes that I just wanted it to be over although it would all be worth it!
After was fine, until later/the next day. There was hardly any leaking although lots of bruising/swelling afterwards. The bruising spread t the top of my thighs and I was several different colours (purple, green, blue etc). I was concerned by the amount of sweklling in my lower abdomen/pubic region but after speaking to Dr Jooste and sending him pictures was assured that this was fine and would go down. I wasn't exactly convinced but trusted what I was told. Gradually the swelling did go down although this did take a while. I am now just left with a 'little' lumpiness in my lower stomach but compared to how lumpy/tough it felt just a couple of weeks ago I am not concerned and have been assured this will go
I found the staff at Bodysmooth very helpful and always happy to answer questions offer advice or just reassurance.
How about you. How did it all go?

Advice on bodysmooth
Hi Number1mum
Not sure how often your on this but as you posted yesterday hopefully you'll be on again in the next day or so. I have had a consultation with Dr Jooste for a mixture of Vaser and Smart Lipo on my upper and lower abs. I'm eager to get this booked in quickly and feel fairly comfortable with it all after been to their meet him. I just wanted abit more information from other patients who have been to Bodysmooth as there is very little about them online. Sorry if you have already answered any of my questions to anyone else. How have you found the aftercare? I have a really low pain threshold, when you felt the pain during the procedure how bad was this? How long ago did you have your lipo? Basically if there is anything else you can tell me about your experience of the clinic, the doctor and the general procedure and experience then I'd love to know.
Am feeling abit nervous as Shamzi (posted below) has also posted on another forum and I've asked her a few questions as I know she was due to have her procedure the other day. She has not yet responded which isnt a problem but my boyfriend keeps saying to me 'how do you know shes ok' and 'maybe somethings happened and you should reconsider this clinic'. Basically making me more nervous than I am already!
Thanks

Vaser / smart lipo combo..
hey... i just had my upper / lower abdominals done with dr jooste on thurs (smart lipo/vaser) and i can say i am already extremely pleased with the results... very little swelling and bruising...although i have to say i have really relaxed 100% and not gone back to any normal routine...perhaps that has something to do with it??
i can say dr jooste is not a "salesman" as perhaps some may be, and i have a lot of confidence in what he has said/explained.......so much so that i have booked in for my next procedure... next week.
the level of pain during the procedure is doable...a bit uncomfortable when he inserts the anasthetic but then you dont feel too much...until the day after.....but then again its not unbearable....i am not one for pain so if i can deal with the pain level and decide to have another area done anyone can!
good luck...you will be fine and esp as you are in good hands!!!!

Thank you nc20009...
...you've put me at ease. I thought Dr Jooste was lovely. Very knowledgeable and seemed very certain that he could achieve the desired results. It's the putting in of the anaesthetic fluid that I'm getting myself a bit worked up about. I don't really have a problem with injections, it's just when he's digging that cannula thing in to fill me with the anaesthetic, I keep thinking he's going to jab parts that aren't anaesthetised and I'm going to jump out of my skin!! I'm pretty good with pain really, I had meningitis last year with the mother of all headaches and had to have a lumbar puncture which entailed an 8cm needle going into my spine, so if I can cope with that....
I'm already thinking about going to get the tops of my arms done as well, but I guess it's probably better to do that on a separate occasion.
I'm already prepared with all my arnica, vitamin C, echinacea and Acidophilus ready to hopefully make sure I recover as quickly as possible and with the best results. I do have a worry about loose skin as he is removing a lot of fat from my stomach. Hopefully the extra smart lipo he is doing will go some way to tighten it up a bit. How much fat did they remove from you, if you don't mind me asking. He's saying he wants to get 3 litres out of me! Wooo hoo!
