Vaser liposuction to knees on 7th october with dr bassis at selston clinic
Hi my name is Lucy and Im due to have Vaser Liposelection / Liposuction on my inner knees with Dr Bassi at Selston Cosmetic Clinic on 7th October. I just wanted to share my thoughts with anyone who might be interested - whilst researching procedures I trawled through countless blogs so I thought it was only fair to put my experiences on here so other people in the same situation might be able to benefit from it. Also I have a few questions and doubts and Im hoping that other people on here might be able to help me or put my mind at rest!!
First of all Ill tell you my problem I have horrible fat knees! They have been like this all my life but its got to the stage now where I havent worn a skirt/shorts above the knee without tights since I was 15 Im now 26 (nearly 27) so its a long time! I used to weigh 13.5 stone but over the last 3 years its slowly come off and then I moved into Manchester city centre, we got rid of our car, joined the gym, we now walk everywhere and I now have stable weight of about 10 stone. Im 5ft 6 and for the first time since I can remember my BMI is under 25 but I still have fat knees!! Its got to the stage where Ive just had enough and I refuse to be ruled by my unfortunate genetic makeup. I am taking control of my life! (This has become my favourite statement to make after a few glasses of wine!!)
Ok so I had decided wanted to do something about so in June 09 I started looking into traditional Liposuction. I went to 3 of the main large companies that you will have probably heard of The ... Harley Medical Group & Nu Look. These were all quite salesy (although some more than others) and they all quoted me for liposuction to one area. The quotes ranged from £3200 - £3600. This was well out of my price range and the thought of actually having a general anaesthetic and going into an operating theatre was quite scary.
Then I heard about Vaser Lipo. I came across reviews and blogs from people and it sounded like it was going to be cheaper, less invasive and more suitable for the knee area. I also heard a lot about Dr Bassi so I decided to make the 2 hour trip from Manchester for a consultation.
The consultation with Dr Bassi was quick. He seems like a nice enough guy and he showed me loads of before and after pictures but unfortunately didnt really have any showing knees. So if anyone has had vaser to their knees I would be interested to hear your thoughts, tips and opinions!! I decided to go for it and paid my £200 deposit (full cost quotes is £1800 for one area) over the phone a couple of days later.
A few days after this I got some information through the post. I have to say I was a little disappointed. There was no letter confirming my booking and no information telling me my balance was due and how much I had outstanding. All I got was a poorly photocopied set of instructions on before/aftercare, my receipt for my £200 deposit, a leaflet for support garments and a prescription for antibiotics. I have to say I was worried by this. I know I was used to the glossy sales brochures provided by the other large companies I had visited but I at least expected a letter detailing my account balance! After all £1600 is a lot of money to me!
I e-mailed the clinic asking them a variety of questions when did I pay my balance, how did I pay my balance, which support garment did I require A few days later I got a call from Mags (who I know from previous bloggers is Dr Bassi's nurse and who will more than likely be present when the procedure is being performed). She seemed really nice and answered all my questions and even arranged for Dr Bassi to write me a sick note for my gym (as no exercise for 4 weeks after). This made me feel a lot better but I still think some proper communication through the post would have been appropriate!
A few weeks have passed. I booked my Vaser at the end of July and the earliest appointment was 7th October. Dr Bassi appears to be very popular which I took as a good sign! Im just waiting now and I have mixed emotions. Im scared, excited and anxious on how its going to look. He can only remove fat from around the sides but my knees are fat all over really! Although its worse on the sides where the fat can be removed. Im hoping its going to make enough of a difference that I can wear the skirt and shorts Ive been dreaming of for all these years!
If anyone has any questions Ill be happy to answer them (although Ill probably be more qualified to do so after the surgery!) and if anyone has been through anything similar and would like to offer their support or thoughts it would be appreciated! Thanks for reading and Ill definately blog again just before and after the procedure wish me luck!! ) xxx

Vaser on inner thighs.
Hi I have been to see Dr Bassi about my inner thighs and legs in general. At the consultation he told me that he could not give me the legs I wanted but could improve the overall effect. He said the elasticity on the skin on legs is not as good as the stomach and whilst he could remove all my fat I could be left with wrinkly skin. He has suggested that we go for some fat reduction and look to give a tighter finish on the skin to resolve this. Has anyone else found this to be the case. I would love to have my inner knees done also but am concerned that the two procedures could leave me looking physically worse. I am a size 12-14 so not horrendously overweight for 5' 7". I am booked in for 29th November for upper inner thigh.

Had it done!
Well I had my thoughs and keens done last Thursday and on the day I could see the results! But know they are big and have to wait until it goes down! On tuesday I though my leg was going explode it was so big, but now Friday, the pain is almost gone and the swelling has also decreased. SO I can see that its getting better!
Cant wait to see the results!

Me too!
Same here I am 5.6 and have fat legs! I have become a very sporty person doing marathons and hikes, but nothing I do helps. So I am having Micro Air liposuction to my thighs (inner and outer) and my inner knees, tomorrow!!!!!!!!!
The doctor told me that there was no procedure that would offer good results on the front, but if I got massages after the lipo then the fat from the front could potentially rearrenge itself.
I will let you know how it goes, I am very exited not so scared (I am trying to be very positive) I have struggled with clothing all my lifes and getting this done is very important to me, it feels like such an achievement to finally do something that I know will solve the problem.
My only advice would be to talk to other people that have gotten vacer lipo, because (for what I have seen in this forum) there tends to be a lot of people that do not see results until 5 month down the line... but then people tend to blog about negative stuff more than positive so do speak with someone that has gotten it done and is happy.

Hey Lucy,
How are you getting on? I had mine done last Friday. Been quite exhausting more than anything, but I'm really happy and excited so far!! I'm going to post some pics in a new thread if it works The day after you could see a big difference but then the swelling kicked in so I'm being patient now.
take care Laura xx

Hi jane
I'm not only having my knees done, I'm also getting inner thighs done and saddlebags. I think officially its 4/5 areas I'm getting done so need two appts as it will be too much pain for just a local.
Are you excited aswell? I'm sure I'll get nervous next week but I just want the day to arrive, I'm so impatient!!

Re: vaser liposuction to knees on 7th october with dr bassis at selston clinic
Hi Lucy!
Thanks for your post, it's certainly been helpful to me When I read it, I had to do a double take to see if I'd posted it as it sounds so similar to me!!
I'm also 5'6 and around 10st, having been bigger in the past. I also have fat knees, but also inner thighs and saddlebags.
I met Dr Bassi and Mags on saturday. I also felt it was quite quick with Dr Bassi (I wonder if they perhaps forget its not normal everyday life for us to have vaser, but they do it all the time!).
I'm glad you mentioned they can't do the top of knees, just sides - do you know why this is? And did you get the same response from the surgeons about the traditional lipo?
I'm seeing someone about the traditional lipo too so I can make an informed decision.
Definitely want to hear how you get on!!
Laura x
