Bodysmooth dr lamia
I had Vaser on my flanks and inner thighs with Dr Lamia on Sat 21 Nov 2009 with Dr Lamia at BodySmooth. She is absolutely lovely and could not do enough for me. I def chose this clinic because of her. I also liked the fact that she is female and just "gets it".
I went shopping after the procedures (although I am glad I did not try anything on and was I wearing black as I discovered the wounds were leaking when I got home). I am very swollen and walk a bit funny but was at a dinner party that same night, so I would say the post op pain is mild.
As for the procedure itself, not so mild! It really does hurt. The bit that particularly hurts is when they put the anesthetic water in prior to the laser procedure. They baiscally need to force the needle in prior to the "water" numbing the earea. Everything else is bearable, although not at all pain free. For those who have had laser hair removal, it feels a bit like that but amplified by 100!
It is now Tuesday, so day 3. I am still sore and VERY swollen, but I was back at work the next day and life is pretty much back to normal, bar the compression garments and no exercise.
No comment on weather is worked, still too swollen - more on that later...

Boodysmooth v selston
Hi Shanti,
I have had Vaser at both of these clinics. I initially went for a consultation with Dr Brooks at Court House Clinic in Wompole St in London and paid a deposit to have Vaser (the waitng time time for this was quite far off and I really wanted to get started with my improved body sooner rather than later) but felt that if I went away and thought about it for too long it could take even longer to get an appointment as at the time Dr Brooks was only performing the procedure once a week and it wasn't performed in London.
I had already booked a consultation with Dr Bassi so felt it worth still going along to it as better to get two opinions than just the one. Two days later I had my consultaion I admit that Selston is a little off the beaten track but easy enough to find with the direction of the staff at the clinic. On arrival I met Dr Bassi and found his manner very friendly and honest. He gave an opinion on what he felt could be achieved and on the basis of what I felt about the consultation I paid yet another deposit there and then and decided that as there was quite a difference in cost I would be no worse off even taking into account losing my deposit with CHC. I returned a few weeks later to have my procedure (I had my outer thighs done). Having had this procedure and being happy with the results I returned to have my inner thighs done. Both times I found the staff to be very caring and Dr Bassi makes sure he does not finish the procedure until he is sure of a smooth/even result. My only issue with Selston is the distance from London where I live. It's not too bad if the roads are clear but get a bad run...........wel it can take hours! I'd be happy to recommend Selston and Dr Bassi.
I then heard about Bodysmooth on this forum when someone else on here was looking to have Vaser. They asked if I had heard of Bodysmooth (which I hadn't) and told me about the promotion that was being offered. I made an appointment to meet Dr Jooste and went along for a consultation with regards to having Vaser on my stomach/flanks. I found Dr Jooste to be a really lovely man who took is time to talk things over. I explained that I had already had Vaser on my thighs and he asked to see the results which he said were very good. I explained that my only 'issue' with the first clinic I had used was the distance. After a very thorough consultation Dr Jooste recommended Smart Lipo for my stomach and Vaser for my flanks. I went away to think about it, a first for me, not because I had any concerns but because I needed to talk to my husband about paying for the procedure. On his agreement I telephoned the clinic and booked to go ahead with the next stage of my 'new improved body'. I had the procedure on my stomach the following week and a week after that i had Vaser on my flanks.
I can honestly say that I am happy with both procedures. Dr Jooste achieved remarkable results on my flanks (infact better than I could have imagined). My stomach is also looking so much better (not always easy after having children). I was so happy with my experience of Bodysmooth/Dr Jooste that I went back to have my 'saddle bags' Vasered a couple of weeks ago.
Price wise there is very little between Selston and Bodysmooth. Both Doctors are very experienced in body contouring procedures and both have lovely 'bedside' manners. Both also have fantastic nurses that assist during the procedure and are invaluable afterward when tring to get garments on. I guess a plus side for Bodysmooth is the waiting times for appointments are not so long which is always an advantage when you want to get the ball rolling and for me the Location is so much more convienient.
I have now spoken to a number of people on here with regard to Vaser and the two clinics and would happily recommend both. I think the thing to do is go with your gut instinct.
I certainly have no reason to lie/make things up about these places, although maybe they could pay me commission or something everytime I recommend them Seriously you have to go where you feel happy/comfortable.
Good luck whatever you decide

Hi shanti
I dont know if you'v read my post or not, but I've travelled a very long way to Seleston! I live near Dubai! There are a few clinics in Dubai where you can get vaser done and I've been to three different places for consultations... and if anyone is fussy, its got to be me due to my previous not so great experience with lipo I had done in Thailand! The clinics in Dubai were either too expensive(over 3500 GBP per area) ,very busy, or just didnt feel right. There is an amazing American Academy for Cosmetic Surgery clinic here in Dubai, where Drs come all the way from the US to perform surgery and the recovery suit is so lush but again the prices were UNrealistic! Honestly speaking.. and I am not doing and marketing here, I felt so much more comfortable when I had my consultation with Dr Bassi than with any other Dr. It really doesnt matter what the clinic looks like, its what your gut tells you. If you can, you should have more than one consultation at different places and see how you feel. I am going back to Selston to get more areas done in Nov! Good luck. Mrs T

Forums
People can make up false good reviews, however no-one can remove bad ones, so it really would have caught up with Dr Bassi by now if there were lots of bad patients.
There also aren't many bad reviews of vaser in general, it seems like most people are really very happy with their vaser results.
I'm going a week tomorrow and I really can not wait!

Yes I agree as I posted earlier. See lower down.

Hmmmmm........ have you actually been reading the forums ! There are both positive and negative reviews on all clinics. Negative marketing springs to mind here ..

Negative marketing? Sorry, not the case. I am a potential patient. In what way can my approach benefit anyone but a patient?

Re
Hi Shanti, Quite intrigued to know which room you had your consultation as the cosmetic side of selston clinic is all brand new. You wouldn't have seen the operating room as you only go in there for the procedure. When i had mine done dr bassi said the room was only built 2 years ago soley for the purpose of vaser. The other half of the building is quite old but it is a village surgery. I was quite surprised when i arrived there as you dont expect to find a cosmetic clinic in a little village, but all my experiences have been very positive. They are very busy so that says something for the clinic. In the end you have to go where it feels right for you! Laura

Hi Laura, no I didn't see the operating room and maybe as it was a saturday I was in a different part of the building. Anyway I'm glad your experience has been positive. Busy clinics unfortunately can be down to marketing. I don't believe this is the case with Dr Bassi because it would have caught up with him by now and poor results would have been posted. My concern is more with Bodysmooth. How long have they been offering Vaser? Anyone know? Their prices are great and location perfect for me but I can't find many convincing experiences from them. I'm still weighing up the two and welcome any comments. Shanti

Bassi
Actually how long has Dr Bassi been practicing Vaser in the Selston Clinic?
Laura, you said the clinic was built for Vaser 2 years ago. Is that right?

Dr bassi
Hi Shanti, Yes, dr bassi said it was built about two years ago originally for smart lipo, but then changed his mind when vaser became an option. he told me at my last procedure he had been doing vaser for 18 months. Laura

Good post
Oh im soo happy you made this post. Im in the same prediciment but i too wanna hear some real experiences. It cant be all perfect can it?
Im still choosing between the two clinics aswell but it will be alot more difficult in getting to and from nottingham. I havnt yet had the consultation yet but have spoken with both clincs and have nothing but postive things to report. Although i didnt feel comfortable of having a consultation over the phone or via email pictures when i spoke to mags. Hopefully someone who has had vaser at these clinics can shed come further light?

Thank you
Hi Samantha,
No unfortunately it very rarely is all perfect. The clinics certainly read these forums, they'd be daft not too and it's an easy and free way of advertising. There is another forum where the clinic had paid "shills" working the site and driving business to the surgery. Unfortunately the results eventually caught up with them so they ran and moved to another forum and began the process again. You do have to be careful, especially when it comes to surgery and yes I suppose the point needed raising.
That being said this does seem a genuine forum with real life experiences so I'm reading all the posts with an open mind. My suspicion was simply raised because the focus certainly seems to be on one or two clinics.
Sorry for being a party pooper

Hi Laura,
Yes I agree as I posted earlier:
"I don't believe this is the case with Dr Bassi because it would have caught up with him by now and poor results would have been posted".
The forum mixes the time line up it seems, so I'll hit reply at the last post from now on.
Sarah,
Negative marketing? Sorry, not the case. I am a potential patient. In what way can my approach benefit anyone but a patient?

Laura, you said : "There also aren't many bad reviews of vaser in general, it seems like most people are really very happy with their vaser results"
If this is the case then that's good news. Am I safe to assume that any qualified practitioner should achieve a satisfactory result on a double chin? It's not as extreme a surgery as say the abdomen so it's easier to get right?

Hi shanti,
i had plenty consultations DR B was the fastest but my gut told me that he was the best! i went with my gut , so glad i did fantastic job

Yeah the timeline really really confuses me!!! This is the worst forum layout I've ever come across!!
I would still be wary about who you choose to do the vaser, as its about contouring too. Not sure if a smaller area would be easier or not? And with it being on the face I wouldn't want to take the risk, at least I can cover my legs up if something did go wrong on my legs (wouldn't be anyworse for me than it is now as I don't show them anyway as I hate them so much!!)
When I was researching I met a Dr who has been trained but not set it up in their clinic yet, but there is no way I'd be their first patient. I'd choose experience over qualifications every time.

Hi shanti
Please have a look at my thread regarding my vaser treatment I had at Bodysmooth with Dr Jooste. Believe me I have no reason to lie about anything and I have no reason to doubt anyone else on here either. I chose Bodysmooth mainly for the price and the location, and also because of reading reviews of the clinic on here. Basically, the experience is never going to be nice wherever you go! I've heard good and bad reviews of Selston but so far I've only heard good things about Bodysmooth. I am very happy with the results so far, and Dr Jooste is very capable and straight forward without any fluff. I would say though if you are wanting lots of aftercare attention, you won't get it at Bodysmooth. I have had a couple of phone calls from Dr Jooste in the last two and a half weeks and one was calling me back after I rang. I sent an email on Tuesday asking a few questions and sending him photos of my progress and haven't heard anything back from him as yet. But I'm a person who prefers to deal with things on my own anyway, as I am quite knowledgeable about health and healing issues. I can highly recommend Dr Jooste, and all the nurses and staff at Bodysmooth are all very friendly and attentive. Good luck wherever you decide to go.

Thanks
Thank you all for taking the time to reply.
I have an appointment wednesday with Dr Jooste at Bodysmooth and I will report back my findings. From the sound of it I'm unlikely to go wrong with either clinic so thank you for putting my mind at ease.
Thanks again
