"Copper coil, late period, neg pregnancy test...."
Posted by annie2735 9 June  at  19:30

Hi,

I hope someone might be able to give me some advice as I can't contact the doctor until tomorrow.

My period is two weeks late. I'm 33 and I've had a copper coil for 10 years. It's due to be changed this summer.

I went to the Doctor last week to discuss the coil change and she did numerous swab tests. I've been having cramping outside of my periods for the last 2 months. She did an internal examination and said everything seemed fine.

When the swab results came back the doctor said the normal harmless bacteria in the vagina was being produced too quickly and has prescribed a course of antibiotics.

I never note when my periods are, but the last one was no later than 28 April (6 weeks ago today), so i'm at least 2 weeks late. I've done a pregnancy test today which came back negative. (Our family is complete hence me having a coil fitted and a pregnancy is the last thing I need or want).

Had I realised I was late I would have discussed it with the doctor last week.

Can anyone help put my mind at rest??

Thanks x

Hi Annie, sorry I didn't see your message til today. I hope you've been able to get in touch with the doctor. It could just be an infection that's caused the cramping and has delayed your period. I had something similar once. Best of luck hun x

Thanks for your reply. I had some blood tests done and the results should be ready tomorrow. In the mean time it appears that my period may be on its way but it looks almost like a dark brown discharge. Sorry that a bit too much information. I can't see my doctor for another 10 days so I'm just playing the waiting game.

Thank you for your reply though, I hope it was just an infection which has responded to the antiobiotic course I've just finished.

Thank you again travelgirl4 x
