Period related tearfulness and irritability - any advice?

I am not on the pill and after years of irregular or absent periods am getting them regularly now. Before my period and during I have really bad problems with being over-emotional, unable to control crying at frustrating situations, etc. Has anyone seen a doctor for a similar reason? What did they say?

Any advice would be well received as would really like this to stop.

Hi vanityuk, have you tried taking St John's Wort? I've found that it helps me when I'm depressed around the time of my period. I've got teabags of it from my local health shop but you're meant to check with your doctor before taking it if you're on any other medication xx
