It depends...

At first, it is best to stick only to the clit hood. Only when the partner is real hot should you pull back the clit hood and tongue the clit directly. Otherwise, it may be too hard for her to bear and it's not fun any more.

I can't agree entirely , -as a male who has spent considerable time researching "what gives my lady the most pleasure" I am astounded at how little a big proportion of females know about their bodies .
Lets take the clitoris for example (and yes I know many men thought that Clitoris was a roman emperor)- here we have what appears to be a little nub of a thing at the top end of the female genitals just above the vaginal aperture ,yet in reality this little nub is some 7-8 cms long , incorporating the labia and finishing at the anal aperture.
Something I find fascinating is that this "clitoris" is the only human organ that has no other function other than to provide pleasure! ( wish we guys had one ).
I can't entirely agree with the previous writer - in my experience the effect and type of stimulus and the corresponding reaction vary so much with the individual that the only real way to find out is to "suck it and see" -what has your lady making the happiest noises is the right way to go.
