Gay friend can't tell parents

Hi, just wondering if anyone can give me some advice. One of my best male friends is gay and leads completely separate lives where we live and at home with his parents. He's from a small town with a pretty small town mentality and doesn't want the hassle of everyone knowing, but I just think that if he carries on a double life it isn't good for his health and will make him into a divided person. If anyone has been in this situation and has any advice that would be great.
