| Thread started by: | "Basic make-up kit." Posted by singingurl32 24 November at 19:17
Hey, I'm not a make-up artist but I would like to start training, what would people suggest that I got to start up a collection even if I was just working on a small group of friends?
I have a little bit of make-up but most of it's cheap or stuff I've got from when I was little. Please help.

Hi, I done my training with MAC, i think the most important thing you start with is good quality brushes. Your tools need to be high quality no matter which makeup you use, unfortunately cheaper brushes do the job but do not give a flawless effect.
Ebay is a good place to get a starter kit, if you search for MAC brush sets you will find them on there slightly cheaper, although you may be looking at a few hundred for a makeup kit altogether - if you want to be a make up artist there is not much point wasting money on cheap tools.
I also like the Models Prefer face primer and foundation. The foundation bottle can be adjusted to give you the correct colour mixture for your skin so you get it right everytime. Concealer, blush, eyeshadows, lip liner, lip stick, lip gloss... the list goes on and on.
Although if you decide to do a makeup course at a college for example, they will offer you the correct tools etc as additional things you need to buy for your course.
Dont be afraid to experiment with colours and techniques, after all 50 years ago I can assure you makeup was very different!

Hi, try the bare escentual kits just a couple of the different kits will give you plenty of scope for lots of different lovely natural looks, It can be pricey, I do know of the cheapest place to get them but PM me as I dont think we can advertise here can we? All you would need is a starter kit which comes with very proffessional brushes (and dvd, perfect for someone learning), and then a beyond basics or a luminous kit ( again both with brushes ) with these you would have all your basic tools So even though it may seem costly really it is not when you think in terms of the brushes alone! Hope this helps. Another good item is a highlighting cream such as moonbeam by benefit, And Benefits big beautiful eyes kit is another goodie as it gives you the tips and brushes which you can then use with other colours and brands x
