Clueless and need new hair style

ive had the same hair style for about 3 years now and im really quite bored of it, but i am absolutely clueless when it comes to hair/make up/any of that kind of stuff.

my hair at the moment is shoulder length, brown, with a fringe and some layers. i dont really have any idea what would suit my face shape or anything- like I said, clueless.

I was thinking maybe of going for a sweeping side fringe but I don't know if it would stay- would it not just keep going back to the middle?

I would also consider changing my hair colour rather than just the style. I was thinking of going for a reddish-purple colour, but I dont know if I would have to bleach my hair in order to acheive this?

Any help or advice would be very appreciated!

honestly make sure you know what u want before u go to any hairdressers & also make sure they no too, speaking from my own expreance i too was wanting anew hair style after growing my hair for years & was a good length i decided i would have akind of bob but wanted it longer at the sides but thats not what i got i got ashort & i mean short boyish cut that i hate & cant do anything with now im going to have hair extensions as the main glory of any women is her hair so please choose carefully both style & hairdresser chick & defenatly dont end up like me
