What went wrong

I've been going to have my hair highlighted for about 6 months now and decided that I wanted to start saving money and do it at home again.
I have colored my hair at home so many times and have never had any problems. I wanted to go with a red color, I have had my hair red before and really liked it and was complimented on how good it looked on me so decided to go back. Before coloring my hair was dark brown roots, (I had surgery recently and had to let it go) and blonde highlights. I picked up Loreal's medium reddish blonde. I left it on for 30 minutes and when I washed it out my hair looks the same, but with just a little light reddish color in my roots! I have never had this happen? Does anyone have any idea why? Should I use a darker color? and how long do I wait before I can color again? The last time I had anything dome before this was well over 8 weeks. Thanks for any advice

your hair is to dark, it doesn't work ! i did also have this problem two years ago and i decided to take a lighter color !
you have to wait at least 2 weeks, otherwise your scalp can react allergic ..
and by the way ... you want to have red hair? why don`t you try henna? http://hennabycynthia.homestead.com/hair.html

Hi

When you have your hair highlighted repeatedly it strips out the colour and weakens the hair which makes it harder for it to retain any new colour.

You might need to invest in one more trip to the hairdressers to get it professionally covered and then keep up with the recolouring at home after that.

I wish there was a cheaper way of highlighting hair as it does become very expensive with trips every 4 weeks - and even then I'm desperately trying to cover my dark roots
