Still using boot's ipl home kit
it's been several months I've been using this, and I must say, it does work - provided you do not stop. Use it once a week, do not forget the cooling gel, be careful and try to do everything by the book ... and you'll soon see (and maintain!) very good results! You will not get rid of body hair completely, but it does make it grow back much slower and weakier. I think it's excellent value for money, I find it terrific especially on pubic hair, which is MY problem area - you'll only need to shave once in a while (or wax, if you prefer) to keep this area soft and clean. But it works great on forarms and armits as well - haven't used it on legs though, for some reason I dont have enough hair there ... Unfortunately, none of the friends who have tried salon laser are happier, they all say it was great at the beginning, but they never got rid of it completely and after having stopped the treatment the hair grew back anyway... Never tried it myself, though. Oh well ... maybe one day we'll find THE perfect solution to body hair ....

Laser won't work forever not even at the salon
... so let's forget it will work at home ... There is no way you can burn the follicle down to the its very root (the only way to kill it) before the deeper you go the lighter it becomes and therefore it won't 'absorb' the laser light that would burn it. This all means: in the best of cases you will weaken the body hairs, and get some hair-free patches at the beginning, but for it to last you do not have to stop. If you go to a salon, you will end up with hefty costs. Maybe the home machine will be cheaper in the long run, provided it doesnt break up. Personally, I'm using the Boots IPL home machine; it's not too expensive and I've noticed an improvement as the hairs are less and weaker - but if I stop doing it they will grow back just as before in just a couple of weeks. I don't think there is a really final solution (maybe electrolysis, but it takes years to really get rid of hairs on even a small area ...).

Laser hair removal works when done professionally
Laser hair removal is permanent if done professionally with a high quality machine. For goodness sake ladies, don't waste your money on home kits or go to salons offering rock-bottom laser treatment. Laser treatment can completely prevent regrowth of any hairs that existed at the time that the treatments were done.
danascully2009 may be referring to the fact that new hair growth is possible in some cases. This can happen if you experience hormonal changes, for example. This is new hair growth not regrowth. In practice, laser hair removal is completely permanent.
My advise is go to a clinic that uses a quality IPL laser, such as a Lynton. I appreciate that it isn't the cheapest treatment out there but hey, people pay hundreds of pounds for these home kits and then don't get the results. Money down the drain.
I live in Bournemouth, and looked at all the clinics available in this area. The cheaper ones always had cheap lasers and inexperienced staff. Apart from not getting the results, this is potentially dangerous. I guess you only get what you pay for. Find yourself someone who knows what they are talking about and has the right equipment.
Feel free to pm me if you live on the south coast and want a recommendation

Do home laser hair removal kits really work?"
Hi
I've just read your post in this forum about laser hair removal kits and whether they really work or not. I've heard good feedback from people who have used the Tria Laser Hair Removal system. I know a good website where you can get additional information from and also to buy this product at a great price.

Im trying tria
Well i got my Tria laser for at home use yesterday and have only done a test patch yet - so will keep you posted on whether its any good - however it is an eye watering £745 . well it will be money well spent...if it works.
i am asian - the best way to describe my skin tone is mac foundation shade nc35.
i have had IPL on my face but after 10 sessions havent really seen any vast long term improvements so this just seems teh cheaper alternative.

Tria
Hi i am thinking of either getting the Tria or Boots IPL home laser. I am asian and also would say i am a MAC35.
I wanted this for use on my legs which are more fair than my face.
How have you found the Tria?

It does work - kinda
Hey guys
sorry for not responding but i returned the Tria and completely forgot about this topic!!
Well i had a 30 day trial period in which i could return the Tria- i wasnt planning on doing this however with unsurety in whether i would have a job by the end of last year i thought it better to not risk it at this point. I did do this after weighing up other factors:
Firstly when i was using it on a flat surface i could zap the shots out pretty quickly (however as the laser has to be touching the surface completely i was getting a lot of dud shots on bony areas) or the fact that when i knew it was going to be painful i was lifting it quickly which was giving a dud shot (so the time wasted because of this). Also where my skin was darker it was more painful or the machine was not emitting the laser (pain threshold or lack of it). I had also heard people saying that if you laser on a lower heat it doesnt kill the hair but "wakes" up finer hair resulting in more hair rather than less (fear that it would make it worse if i wasnt using it properly). And the big decider was the credit crunch - not knowing if i would keep my job (the price for the Tria is hefty) It was an accumulation of all these thing really that made me return the machine.
However before i did this i did try it out so here are my findings based on this:
i think my skin colour was on border line of what was allowed (my arms are more tanned) that i could only use it comfortabally on the 1st and 2nd settings. I did try the 3rd highest setting but only after using a numbing cream first.
I can report back that yes it does seem to have worked (i only used it once on one arm as i wanted to compare it with not using it) and even now looking at my arms i can tell that the arm tria was used on has less hair (they seem to have thinned out and look finer)
Although i used it on both legs (also only once) i can see that again the same thing has happened whereby the hair have not grown back as built up as previously. and the ones that have dont bother me as much for me to have waxed or epliated them
Therefore my conclusion would be if you do have lighter skin this machine is perfect for home use - i researched the rio laser and didnt find anything decent said about it. But i can say that this one seems to do the job. Now it will work for my skin colouring as well but only if you are willing to take some pain with it. Now i have had IPL and that was painful for me aswell but the difference is as you are controlling the machine yourself you might (like me) have the tendancy to remove the machine before it emitted the laser beam (because you just know) whereas when someone else is doing it you dont really have that control.
The price is hefty but if it works then in comparison its not really that much. However at the moment if youre like me and not sure if you going to have a job tomorrow then it isnt the wisest time to buy.
If i could have afforded it i would defintily have had kept it and used the cooling cream before the shots - however i'm not still 100% sure i would go and buy it again when i can afford it im probably 75% sure that i would.
The battery charge time that everyone was complaining about isnt as bad as i thought it was - i mean i got 2 half legs and 1 half arm done with one charge - ok admittingly i didnt bother being perfect but i tried to be effcient and cover all skin. also if you place - zap - move - place - zap - move it will last longer!!
I would definitly not recommend it for darker skins to use it on the face - i think if you did have a reaction to it any where else you can deal with it but on your face - its there for you and everyone else to see. Like i said earlier i tried IPL which was painful and didnt work booo. but now ive started laser but specifically the nd:yag one which is supposedly the best one for asian and black skins. I dont feel even a 1/4 of the discomfort i felt with the IPL and after one session the results are absolutley amazing!! .
hope this helps
xx

Rio- big disappointment !
I purchased both Rio products and have been trying for three years to get rid of hair on my face, belly button and breasts. Unfortunatelly it has not worked for me so far, but my problem has gotten worse, because if you follow the instructions you must shave when you use the laser and you must not pluck. This is the only way it can work. So I ended up with stubble...My advice is "forget Rio" I will keep looking for a better home laser product, but so far I found the salon was a success but far too expensive, and after 8 sessions in the salon the hair does come back after a couple of years. It should have worked on me, because my skin is white with brown hair and unfortunatelly very hairy (with very dark hair in places). Anyway, good luck girls !

Still finding out my self
Hi, I brought one and I am unsure, it takes so long! I recon it works by burning the follicle. For example if you see people that have suffered burn injuries no hair grows on the spots. On the patches I have tested it seams to work but on my legs I have developed some small red dots. They may be due to general ageing but I am not sure, so I was looking on this forum to find out if anybody has success too.

Nu hair removal equipment
i myself did not prefer laser treatment because they damage ur skin and harm ur cells. i always prefer my fellows to use NU spring 4 hair removal because it is easy to use and harmless for any age person. from where u can buy this product this link might be very helpful: http://www.beautyimpex.co.uk/149/facial-hair-removal.html
