Has anyone tried laser hair removal?

I'm thinking of getting laser hair removal on my lower legs and under my arms, but I've heard stories about people who've been left burnt or with some scarring- is it true you're not meant to go in the sun afterwards?

Has anybody had it or has anybody had a horror story that will put me off?

I'm such a chicken...

It's a bit expensive but it does work

I went for a small investment and got myself Boots Smooth Skin, pulsed light to do at home. Well, it does work!! It worked best on my armpits, but also ok on my bikini area and I've just started to treat my forearms - Pls do everything by the book, though, it's really fast and easy, but you can never be too careful with these machines... Boots machine is cheaper than salon in the long run, and although you'll need more sessions (it's got a softer setting to be safer to use) it's great to do it at home whenever you have some time.
And also, pulsed light is better and safer than 'old' laser. Treatments are not cheap but definitively worth it. Just look out for a good and reputed salon, compare prices and remember that not everyone would be the right skin type . but if yes, try it and you'll love it!!

Hi, Danascully 2009, i am considering buying the Boots Smooth Skin system i am asian with medium skin tone, is your skin tone similar & would you recommend that i use it?

thanks!

Scary but less hairy

I had IPL on my bikini and underarms about 2 months ago and was pretty skeptical about it but in fairness it really has reduced the amount of hair! And the best bit is, it doesnt hurt, I had read reviews saying it might hurt or burn but it didnt, and Im a total wimp! haha.
Had it done at a place in London, depicool, was dubious because its cheap, but the girl was nice and didnt make me feel uncomftable considering she was lasered my private parts! Pretty good overall, so if your going to get IPL, I would defo recommend depicool in london, cheap and easy, but in a good way hope this helps

Same problem here

Hello, I was given a leaflet in a supermarket for a free hair removal session but I don't feel quite sure about that...

Laser hair removal

I have had laser hair removal and I did get burnt which did scar but only ever so slightly. It does show more when I have a tan tho. It was across the shins. the lady who did it said it was because different areas of the body have different sensitivity. but in hindsight i guess i should have complained more since that was the reason i went to a professional. she adjusted the heat the next time and then turned it up again when i was more use to the treatment. im blonde with medium skin tone and a mixture of dark and blonde hairs.
Ive had 6 treatments and still have about 30% hair left on my leg and it really hasnt done much to my bikini area. perhaps this was because she turned it done and wasnt hot enough.
despite all this i am thinking of having it done again but am looking into the home kit as its rather expensive and if my hairs are that resilient then it would be more cost effective to do it myself.

Laser hair removal

I've had laser hair removal and it's very good. If you compare it to electrolysis (v painful) or waxing for the rest of your life! then it's the only solution - only expensive. I have been going to a lady at London Laser Hair Removal who is great, honest and reliable. There was no charge for the consultation or patch test and she spent ages answering all my questions. www.londonlaserhairremoval.com - I think.

I have...

i have had it on my bikini area and i personally think it is great..albeit expensive. i have not heard stories about people being burnt, although it did briefly leave little marks on my skin but that was something to do with anti-histamines..they have gone now.
i got warned of all the risks and nothing was mentioned about burns...
it is a little painful, but nothing unbearable and you can go in the sun you just have to be cautious but they recommend to avoid it for a while, 24 hours or so.
the best thing to do is book a consultation, they are normally free and a proffessional will be able to answer all your questions, it really isnt that scary! its just expensive, but for me it was totally worth it. x
