Hi
I work in an office and can't take more than 3 or 4 days off work. Would that be enough? i am having unders, which I think are more painful. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I had unders and I had the op on a Friday and went back to work on Wednesday. I was lucky cos I could work from home the first two days, then I had another day off to have my checkup on the 7th day (Friday).

If found it very difficult, but I did manage it. I found being tired was the worst, not the pain. The first 4 days are the worst for the pain and if your sitting and typing it was fine for me. The following week I was back in the office and had to carry my rucksack with laptop and bits in. That was hard, but I just took it really slow and easy when I was lifting and walking to work.

Personally I would have liked a few more days off, but I didn't have that option. In summary my advice would be if you CAN take a couple more days off, then do, but if you can't, like me, you'll manage to get through them somehow!!

Good Luck hunny.

I had my op on the wednesday and went back to work first thing monday morning and was fine, if a little worse for wear due to not sleeping as i hadnt built up enough holiday time to take any more than 4 days off.
ohh now i dont know about unders hunny mine were overs but unders are supposed to be a bit more uncomfortable.

what kind of work do you do? as long as there is no heavy lifting or crowds you should be ok

its an individual choice though

hi ariel
probably not the answer you want to hear but i waited 2.5 weeks to go back to work (i work in an office so nothing too strenuous. your body goes through such a trauma having the op - dont underestimate the exhaustion you will feel. Also i had under the muscle and honestly it was very painful for at least 7 days after it.
If you can't take any more time off than 4 days i reckon (if you work mon-fri) you should have your op on a friday so you can have the sat and sunday off too. Of course everyone is different and may have a different view on it. Good luck with it though! xx

had my unders yesterday and still sore today - would think by mid week i will be walking roung but come home with drains which are coming out tomorrow i hope. you need to bolt onto a weekend and so you can maximise the time off - felt crap today as had no sleep so dont try to get back too soon or you will be off again!

hi i had unders ive got my own catering trailer which is heavy lifting my surgeon told me 3 weeks off work cause of the lifting , i went back after 1 week though got some-one in to do all the lifting, was fine just serving customers, what i did find hard is little things like cutting onions or opening tins and wiping down im now 6 weeks and started lifting gradually. i think you know your limits, tried washing windows at weekend and hurt a little cause i was strecthing to the top i think cause your working in office your more likely to get back ache than anything take some good painkillers with you and have a nice soak when you get in, i dont thing it'll be a problem , just dont come in from work and start doing all the house-work take it easy for a few weeks i got a freind or hubby to go supermarket shopping with me cause i coudnt push trolley around just going to try it this week on my own should be alright now even hoovered this weekend, good luck lisa

i had my ba last sunday - 31st aug, i had 410cc unders.
1 week po and i'm back at work on wednesday, couldn't bear the thought of going back now though. i might not even go back on wednesday if im not feeling upto it.
its not just the ache and stiffness, i feel constantly tired if i do anything using much energy, and feel sick with headaches from the tablets.

i dont think everyone feels this way, everyone is different, but if you can, i would try and get a couple more days off.

good luck x x x

I had 410cc Partial Unders on a Wednesday and went back to work on the Monday so I had 4 Days of. I didn't really think the pain was that bad. I was tired for the first two days then back to normal I have an 11 month old to lokk after as well.

It just felt like I'd done to much at the gym in my chest muscles, I have an office job and it didn't affect me at all.

You get like shooting pains and my skin was a bit tender from being stretched but that was it you will be fine.

Good luck

Sue.

I had 335 unders last thursday and went back to work in an office thursday just gone.

I was so tired as not sleeping through yet and everybody kept saying that I didn't look 100% - although i've not told anyone at work. I managed it and wasn't in pain it was just strange sat at my desk plus the fact i was so tired didn't help I wish I could of had a few extra day although I bet it doesn't matter when you go back you probably feel this way . I finished early so I didn't have to drive in rush hour although it's not far which did help.

I suppose everone is different and bodies cope in a differnet way.

Good luck and i'm sure someine else will be along soon to give more advice.
