| Thread started by: | "Benelli breast lift with implants" Posted by scottishgirl1980 2 October at 06:19
Hi everyone,
In May 2007 I had a benelli breast lift with implants, to correct drooping and also asymmetry (my right breast was much bigger and very droopy).
Due to complications afterwards (a nurse trying to remove a stitch that had come near the surface but which should never have been interfered with), I had to have a corrective procedure in August 2007.
It's nearly 14 months since this op, and I'm still not happy with the results, though don't know if I just have really unrealistic expectations?
The scars around my nipples are really thick, the nipple discs seem bigger than they were before because they are permanently 'stretched out', and I had wanted these to be smaller. Also, the size of my right nipple is wider than my left, and there is still some unevenness in the position of my breasts. And my left nipple puckers at one section.
I went back to see the surgeon in May this year, and he told me to wait until he end of the year to see how they settle down, and asked me to think about the complications of yet more surgery (operation, recovery time, red scars, sports bras again!) as opposed to just settling with what I've got, which in his opinion is better than what I started with. If I have further corrective surgery though (I think I will be given I am so unhappy), I'm thinking of having a lollipop lift to achieve a better result, though of course initially wanted to steer clear of this because of the further scarring.
Also, I don't know if this is something that everyone else universally experiences, but when I'm in the bath / swimming pool, I can really feel the implants in my breast tissue, and when I feel the underneath of my breasts, I can feel the edges of the implants.
None of this is making me feel particularly good about myself and it's really affecting my relationship too because of my selfconsciousness. I'm beginning to wish I'd just stuck with my wonky droopy natural breasts - at least they were ok to touch!!
I'd be really keen to hear about other people's experiences, and what results should really be expected after this kind of operation. Sorry to moan, just feels like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place!

I am debating between big boobs which sag or full lift with scars, I have heard good and bad about the benali lift but usually it flattens nipples and stretches them which I dont want. It is such a difficult decision. I would love to see full anchor scars after a year or so purely to see if it is worth it. I dont want more than 1 op if possible but on the otherhand I dont want to have a lift if it isnt necesarry. Please make sure you right times/dates and comments from the surgeon as back up if things do get yucky. fingers crossed a re-op will take place, you have come this far, dont give up xxxxx

Hi!
I'm really sorry that you are having such a bad experience and your surgeon definitely doesn't seem to know where you are coming from!
I had exactly the same problem - small left breast and larger, droopy right breast. After A LOT of thinking I decided to get someting done about it and had the operation 9 days ago now. I know that it is very very early days but already I feel very happy with the results!
I had a straight forward BA on the small breast (370cc) and a BA + lolllipop lift on the larger breast (170cc- they really were different!). As for the nipple discs, my surgeon has reshaped them so they match which I think your surgeon really should have too. Like you, I was really worried about the lollipop lift because of the scarring but my surgeon assured me that this would be the best way to get the symmetry I wanted (I didn't listen to him at first but changed my mind last minute) even though the wounds haven't really even healed peoperly yet they are so neat that I really feel that this little 1.5 inch line is a small price to pay for nice shaped breasts and nipples!
I can't beleive that your surgeon is being so unhelpful and really doesn't seem to understand how you feel. I went to James McDiarmid in Cheltenham (through 'My Breast') for my surgery as he has extensive experience in correcting breast asymmetry and really seemed to understand and was really sympathetic and listened but seemed very confident in his abilities. He came highly recommeneded to me and I would really recommend him to you if you did want to see another surgeon. It might be a bit of a journey from where you live but he was for me too and was def worth the trip!
You might think that it is a bit early on in my recovery for me to comment (and you'd prob be right!!) but I'd be happy to keep you updated and/or let you see pics of my results so far. If it's affecting how you feel about yourself then I'd see if there was a way to sort it out - just maybe see someone a bit more in tune with your needs!
I hope my ramblings have helped! Let me know if there is anything else I can do.

Hi hun
Sound like you are having a nightmare of a time, you poor thing!
Your surgeon sounds a real b@st**d and has no right to say his work is better that what you started with, that is plain rude and clearly untrue!
Go and see your regular GP and explain your case, show them the work done by the surgeon and say how it has affected your life, some GPs are really good and may be able to offer sound advice and/or a solution. Even if they are unhelpful, should you chose to pursue a re-op and possible compensation etc you have the doctors visit as a documented event to back up your case!
Also I would go straight back and see the surgeon, it's unfair for them to expect you to wait to the end of the year, also I'd point out that the reason for a benelli is to minimize scarring, which you feel hasn't happened, also point out that your nipples are uneven and need correcting too, if you go for a re-op suggest that unders may be better for you as you can feel the implant edge.
I wish I could be of more help, sorry! I was thinking that I may need an uplift / nipple lift in a few years and had checked out benelli as a possibility as they are so highly rated esp in the US.
Good luck sweetheart!
Big hugs Ruth xxx
