"Non wired bras"
Posted by mrsfreer 7 October  at  18:30

Hi guys, i am just over 6 weeks and have been told i can wear bras without the underwire (no underwire for ANOTHER 6 weeks) does anyone know where i can get some half decent bras that dont have underwire in?

Getting really fed up still being in my sports bra. Im going to get measured later on this week but im wearing a 36DD sports bra ( the sexy £4 asda one!)

Really struggling to find bras with no underwire or mass amount of padding!

Anna

marks and sparks do some "post op" normal - non wired bras that they say still help with the healing of your scars but make you feel comfortable and they look nice too.

They so a whole rang for Post Op women.

I would of thought that only the bigger stores have them or search online xx

do some non underwired. Nothing hugely spectacular, more the plain white, black and flesh coloured ones, but they are cheap enough (arouind £8 and £12) so just buy a few to tide you over and then chuck them at the end.... and the one advantage with them as well is that they are non padded and are perfect to chuck in the washing mashine on a regular cycle - I used to find my padded bra's used to get really lumpy and lost their form from machine washing them - but I couldn't be asked hand washing

So know what you mean about the sexy sports bra's - I'm getting rather tired of mine already and I'm only 3 weeks post op . I'm finding the supporting seams on the cups very very annoying.......

"Cut wires out?"
Posted by ellesbelles 8 October  at  01:22

I was advised 6 months non-wired, but being a bit of a pretty underwear obsessional I asked doc how important it was. He seemed to think it was important, but said I could buy any good quality bra and just remove the underwire. It has been absolutely fine, I can still wear matching sets and they are pretty! Couldn't quite bring mysel to cut them out of the expensive sets though, so have kept them til now (my six months are just about up - hurrah!)

Well i think its different for every surgeon.
i was told on my 6 week check that i was allowed to stop wearing my sports bras and wear normal and wired bras. He said that if it rubbed or felt sore on the scars then just to put some cottonpad or something there.
all give different advice i think!
I still dont wear wired bras on a regular basis tho. Probably 2 or 3 days a week. and always wear a sports bra at night.
Hope that helps

Hi

I bought some nice non wired bras from Debenhams. John Lewis also do a range but they are not so nice.
