Lower body exercise after ba

Can i go to a spin class 3wks after ba under muscle? Or is this a no no too because of the physical exersion on my body and increase in heart rate may impede recovery time for scars? Thanks x x x

Same question!

i am dreading giving up the gym!

i do step classes and body combat which are both out for the six weeks i am sure! (very very bouncy! )

was hoping to get back to bum/tum/thighs after 2 weeks? no bouncing at all, although pehaps abs will pull on boobs abit? not sure?

i though after 2 weeks it would be ok to do the treadmil at a fast walk uphill and the excercise bike???

however i was just thinking about the bounce! didnt even thinkabout it effecting the scars and healing!

good point... i will check with my surgeon next thur when i see him again??

like you i thought spinning would be ow impact on the boobs but dont know about you but it kills me! its a good fat burner!

good luck healing xxx

Be careful hun and don't overdo it...

Higher heart rate & blood pressure means more pressure on your scar!
I am a bellydancer and I will take it really slow in the beginning. I am doing loads of sit-ups at the moment (2 sets / 50 in the morning, 50 evening) to strengthen my tum for after the BA so I can get out of bed better/quicker.

Take it easy hun, spinning class sounds like very high impact excerise

What is a spin class?

Hi Moon

Hope you're recovering well.

I'm not sure what a spin class is, but I would avoid anything that is high impact (likely to cause bounce) until week 6.

I began uphill walking on a treadmill at 2 weeks PO, slowly at first - never doing anything that caused any discomfort.

When speaking to my surgeon about exercise after a BA I was very specific and asked:

When can I start walking? - "The day after surgery"
When can I start walking any distance? - "As soon as you feel up to it"
When can I start walking fast (ie power walking)? - "As long as it doesn't cause any discomfort it's fine"
When can workout hard - lower body? "As soon as you are ready"

I basically waited 2 weeks to do anything that caused me to work up a sweat because I was worried about the scars. By 2 weeks they were nicely healed so that's when I decided I could start more intense workout.

I found that uphill walking on the treadmill was the best exercise. It was very low impact in terms of "bounce" (lol) but really got your heart pumping and a good sweat on!!!

You can probably tell my the question I asked my PS that I'm quite keen on keeping in shape and didn't want to wait too long before getting active!! And I did start walking from the day following surgery and I think that this helped my recovery.

Hope this helps.
