dont think i can have a ba :tr

i am so upset girls, i have talked to the surgeon on L.Y.B about my pigeon chest and he looked at my pics and thinks that i would have to have a custom made implant for the bone side which he said wont be good value for money, also my left nipple should be moved more to the middle which would cause scarring, he does'nt think that i will look assymetrical and that the solution would be to have macralane injections on top of an implant on my sloping side but no surgeon would do that. .i knew i was'nt straight forward with my bone but i never realised it would be so complex. .he said i am wise to go to the nuffield and see a surgeon who does NHS too,
i am so nervous having my consult now in case he tells me there and then he cant do it.....i've set my heart on it now, why did i have to be born with a stupid pigeon chest its so not fair i'm see ing my GP on tuesday and i think i will tell her before hand to get a whole load of tissues ready if any of you girls are on L.Y.B then have a look at my conversation with the PS, i am reading it right are'nt i??? OMG i dont want them to refuse me i'm so sorry to bother you all with my problems but i am really, really upset and i dont know what to do..i'm so sorry

And

i gave up smoking 3 mths ago especially for this op and now i just want a fag and i know i cant have one....oh hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't panic !

Hun don't panic just yet! I had assymetry where 1 boob was bigger than the other, 1 nip was higher than the other and the bigger one was made to look even bigger because my ribcage protruded more on the bigger side than the other, ps told me all that and I though oh great! But I had the BA where he sorted out everything and now I absolutely love them. All I am saying hon is that the ps on LYB while very good, hasn't actually met you in person or done any measurements etc. etc. so there may still be a way you can get the BA, try not to panic, you are going to the Nuffield next week aren't you hon? I am sure they will be able to give you advise. xxx Hang in there xxx

Thanks

i'm trying not to panic, and i know that he cant tell properly just from photos, did they move your nipple? i have the nuffield on friday, i had booked an appointment with mybreast but i cancelled that for now untill i see my GP and the nuffield PS. i think my main problem is going to be where the bone slopes but i will see what happens, i'm going to have a glass of baileys to calm me down

love marie x x x

Dont worry

don't worry Marie, its so different from seeing pics to actually seeing someone in the flesh and taking measurements. After you've been to Nuffield, re-book with mybreast as they are your best bet out of all the large companies I should reakon as all those surgeons do alot of reconstructive, much more complex breast ops, so if anyone knows their stuff its them! They will let you know what problems you may encounter and how they may look after to prepare you and make double sure you still want to go ahead. You might not get the look you were ideally after, but if your anything like me youll be thinking "anything is better than what i have" lol. Don't give up hope honey!!! Enjoy that baileys!

Yes

Yes he had to move it up a couple of centimetres and in slightly, he also made it smaller to match the other one. if you want to see the pics they are on picturetrail under sarahlsmith22 and the password is boobies, the strips on the nipple are see thru but I haven't got any pics of the scar bare yet as I am too scared to take the strips off completely so I am taking 1 off at a time - just me being a big baby

I would go and see your GP, it really depends what they are like whether they will help you or not, mine didn't want to know at all and when I asked if there was anything she could do to help I got a flat 'No', she wouldn't even have a look whereas I know of another girl who had assymetry but no other problems and it wasn't even obvious assymetry and her GP got it sorted for her on the NHS and it was all done and hers look great now. See what the actual PS says, I am sure there will be some way they can help you xx And yes have a drink, it will calm you down!

They look great

just had a look at your pics and your boobs look great and your nipple looks fine to, the PS seemed to think it the scarring it leaves is'nt nice but i cant see any probs with yours at all, i am going to see my GP basically to discuss my discision to have a BA with her as she pretty much knows me inside out (i've been going to her for 20 yrs) the PS suggested i push for funding, as i guess it was something i was born with but i will just see what she says, plus i know from being on this site for the last couple months that some people dont take to kindly to girls who get funding..so just to let them all know now, if my GP offers it i will take it, if she does'nt then i wont...i cant be fairer than that, .... and my baileys is lush

That

That was a bit weird when he said that eh? Cos the scarring for you won't be as bad as a lollipop or anchor uplift and hundreds of women have those done. There are also loads of things you can put on scars to make them heal, I haven't even been able to use my Dermatix scar gel yet as I have to wait until 6 weeks.

If you can get it on the NHS then go for it, just make sure they tell you who the surgeon is so you can research them, most of the NHS ps's have a private practice as well so they are easy to look up. I think in a way people can be a little jealous of NHS if they had to pay for theirs, it's not exactly your fault your bones grew in such a way. Let me know how it all goes hon? xx Am having some vino myself so might have to stop typing soon before it turns into gibberish!

To sarah...

Just had a look at your pics - your boobs look incredible! You would never know that you had asymmetry before the op!! Can you tell me if you had any other consults and with whom at mybreast before deciding to go with Mr Hamilton? I am going to request a consult with him - was really happy with my first consult but feel I want a second (and third probably) opinion on things!

Congrats on owning such a fab pair of boobies - were they overs yeh? Im having 345cc overs i *think*

Aw

Thanks hun! So nice of you. They were partial unders, although from what he kept telling me a lot of PS's use 'unders' and 'partials' fairly loosely to describe the partially under the muscle placement as full unders are not done that often and are more common in reconstructing for ladies who have had breast cancer who knows it's a minefield!

I like the partials though they don't look stuck on, there are a few mm's of distortion if I flex my muscle but it just looks like my boobs are bouncing so it's fine, perhaps one day I can train them to do a booby-dance LOL!

Sorry

Oooh I forgot to say no I didn't see anyone else at Mybreast, I saw someone else who works at Transform but I saw him privately but I just didn't really like him that much, seemed a good surgeon but didn't really put me at ease.

Mr Hamilton on the other hand loved him, he is really really nice and he was lovely to my good friend who came with me to my consults and on the day of the op, and to my OH who came to my post op consults. Generally a wicked surgeon.

Where

where is mr hamilton based,

I saw him

At St John and St Elizabeth, it's literally over the road from St John's wood tube station. Also works at BMI the garden hospital and the Royal Free hospital. x

Oh

i'm up in mid wales, i had booked to see guy sterne in birmingham as he does reconstructive surgery and NHS, so depending on what 'unravels' next week with my appointments i may re-book with him. thanks sarah x x x

He is supposed to be really really good as well, they have a similar set of qualifications iirc

He is supposed to be really really good as well, they have a similar set of qualifications IIRC

Oh hun , like whats been already said. The surgeon on the website cant really measure you in person! dont give up, wait to see what they say at nuffield. I know youve waited along time for this. i'll keep my fingers crossed for you hun. Pm me if you need someone to talk to x
