Highgate help!!!

Hiya, Well I have been told my admission time for Highgate hospital is 7am and im really annoyed about it as its so early and I live really far away.. in Somerset! I don't have that much money at the moment and can't really afford to pay for a hotel the night before..especially after look at prices of ones in london! So looks like i have to get a train at 2.30am! But i don't know how to get to Highgate from paddington..has any1 else travelled by public transport there, as in the tube? Which tube station is the best to get off and do u need to get a taxi from there? Any help would be greatly appreciated cos im really stressing out about it!! Can't believe the admission time is so early! Thanks. xxx

Tube

I live in London and I'm also having my op at Highgate. From paddington you need to take either the Central Line (Yellow) or Hammersmith & City Line (Light Pink) to Kings Cross Station. At Kings Cross get on the Northern Line (Black) which will take you to highgate station. Either the Mill Hill East or High Barnet trains will take you to Highgate. Its pretty simple but Kings Cross can be a bit confusing so just follow the signs to the Northern Line and you should get to the right platform.

Btw, tube trains don't start running till about 6am so If you can get to paddington for 6am you'll have an hour to get to highgate station which should be alright. Another option is to get a cab from paddington straight to the hospital which will be quicker but may cost about £20 but thats still cheaper than a hotel.

Hope that helps.

Thx

Hiya, Thx for ur message hun was really helpful. Do u know whether its easy to get a taxi from Highgate tube station to the hospital.. I take it its too far to walk? Also if i was to get a taxi the whole way from Paddington to Highgate do u think it will be quiet that time of morning..around 6am and how long do u think it would take? Sorry for all the questions..I'm just trying to get things planned cos I don't know London very well! Thanks hun! xxx

I walked to the clinic from highgate

it's about a 20 mins walk, it's not too bad =)

hiya, dont worry alot of people are in bright &early! i have a number of a hotel which my parents have booked to stay at for the night before &the night of my ba its 69 a night which is cheapest we found if you want the number pm me we live in bristol so not too far from you, which day are you in for your op?

Taxi

Hiya. I live very near Highgate and although I've never been to the tube at that hour but doubt there will be any taxis waiting around. It would also be a fair walk from the tube. There are no buses near the Highgate hospital either, it's in a quiet residential area. It might be worth booking a local taxi in advance to pick you up from the tube. But actually it might well be worth getting one from Paddington as it's not that easy a journey from there tube wise. I would guess it would cost about £20 from there. At that time in the morning , as you'll be going against traffic coming into town it would take about 30 mins by car from Paddington to Highgate Hospital. It would save a lot of faffing around to get a cab from Paddington, simply because it's not a particularly straightforward journey. You could book your cab in advance as a mini cab from somewhere like Kentish Town. This is a good one that I have used: 0207 267 1600. Good luck
