My story - get comfortable - it's a long ride! (ba 11th june)
Ok, Hi everyone, Some of you know that i was due to have my BA on 7th, but when I got down the theatre, my implants were not there. Can you imagine? Taken weeks of planning, 3 kiddies to sort out, etc, so it was so upsetting.
New date of 11th was not that long to wait so I just tried to keep positive. (i also kept thinking that it was an act of God,that the impants weren't there and he was trying to tell me not to have it done! - lol).
Anyway, i thought he would try again of he really didn't want me to go ahead! So got picked up by driver at 5am, admission time was 7:30 - I thought this would mean I would be first down to theatrae - great.
Went to sleep in car on the way - totally exhausted after the week i'd had. Got there, went to fantastic big, light and airy room, unpacked all my stuff, so after i would be able to reach everything a girl needs wth ease - hair straigtneners, makeup, phone, DS, magazines, pringles, etc. Put the TV on, then a nurse came in and asked me medical history, weighed me, took my hight, etc. Told me to get into my gown and tights. So I did, then watched some telly, i was really cold, but too embarressed to get into the bed, so put my uGgs on and covered my legs with my dressing gown.
Felt like ages before the anesthetic lady came in, told her i didn't want morphine without anti-sickness med too, as i am really awful on it. Thing she was German, quite nice.
Right, I thought, Marco Moraci will be here any minute to draw on my boobs, and then i'll be going down......How wrong was I! after about 30 mins a nurse came in and told me i was going to be in a different room after my op, so i needed to pack every up. I was not happy, i told her i should have been told this before i unpacked. she was nice and i felt bad that i took my frustration out on her, but i was just anxious, tired, grumpy etc.
She took me to my new room which was tiny, gloomy, horrible! but I got it feeling a bit nicer, by once again unpacking my stuff. Marco didn't come to see me until about 11:30! He confirmed that my implants were there - yippee!
Walked down to theatre at 12 noon after sending my husband a goodbye text and told him i loved him and the kiddies.
The nurse was not nice, didn't talk to me, didn't smile at me, I was thinking 'aren't you supposed to be making me feel less nervous? i think she was on her period!' then got put to sleep by German lady.
Felt like 1 second had passed and someone said something to me, like kelly wake up, i was in pain, my chest was hurting. Don't think i opened my eyes, i could just hear people talking.Next thing i knew i was back in my room. A nurse gave me a sip of water, my mouth was stuck together it was soooo dry. I slept for the whole afternoon, it was a nice sleep - not sure if they gave me morphine, maybe. Anyway i had this urge to look a my boobs, they did not look like mountains, they looked quite flat, from what i could see, but they were very far apart, like on my sides!
Anyway, the nurse said i needed to have some tea and toast, so i sat up, wow, that really hurt, can't put any pressure on my arms at all, had to use my bum to shuffle up the bed. Rang my Mum first, she was looking after my youngest 2 children, i sounded like Kerry Katona, really slurring. then rang my husband. took me ages to eat the toast, kept falling asleep at the same time. I asked the nurse if i could go to the toilet, i really wanted to have a look at boobs. She helped me up, was quite dizzy but managed it. Couldn't wee for ages, it was like my brain hadn't connected to my bladder! after a while, i did a little and stood up, lifter my down and looked in the mirror, was pleased. but still very far apart, look good from the side.
Got back into bed, then it was like watching a balloon being filled up, my right boob just swelled up, i could also hear water in my boob, very strange. Went back to sleep and woke up at 8:30 for my 3 course meal - which i couldn't even remeber ordering, but i had lasagne, and fudge cake, again it took me ages to eat, but i enjoyed it.
I was a very ignorant patient, i was so sleepy, i just hung my arm out of the cover when the nurses came to check my BP etc, i just didn't have the energy to open my eyes!
You have probably guessed by now that i slept soundly all night! lol! woke at 6am, asked for a pain killer, only took one, i don't like taking too many. Had my lovely english breakfast at 7am. Was feeling much better, not in pain, just discomfort. Got up, curled my hair with my straighteners, make-up, packed up and waited for Marco to come and check on me. Had wind so went to bathroom, did some little movements, and you can guess what can't you, a knock a the bloody door, just as i let a massive one out! awful, i'm sure i was soooo red. He check me and said the swelling would go in 7 days. Got my medication, and came home, quite a pleasand journey to be fair.
Lovely to see my kids and husband, although, i think my husband thinks there is something wrong because they are so far apart! Trying to rest and chill, but it's not easy with my family.
I have a great tip for you when trying to sleep upright, roll a towel up and put it around your neck, it's very much better than having a stiff neck in the morning.
