Dr blum or dr jofilly
I have had a consultation with both Dr Blum as Swiss Clinic and Dr Jofilly at Botanics, but have no idea who is better at the smart lipo procedure. Dr Joffilly at Botanics uses the aspiration technique where i think they suck out the fat too, which Dr Blum doest. Dr Blum came across better in the consultation, Dr Joffilly didnt seem that interested in being there. But Dr B was rather quick in getting me booked in for the appoitment! I am really confussed and dont want to waste my money on a painful procedure that wont work. If anyone has had work done with either of these drs or a consultation i wojld be greatful for the advise!

Failed smartlipo
Hi, I would like to hear where you had your smartlipo done, can you email me privately on karen@halls12.freeserve.co.uk? My friend, fiance and I have all had failed smartlipo, firstly last April, then again in December. We are now preparing to fight to get our money back and are hoping to contact others in the same position as us so we can force all of the surgeons to admit this was not tried and tested, and that it has failed on a wide scale. We feel we will have a strong case if we are many. Hope to hear from you soon, karen (12kitty) x

Smartlipo
I had Smartlipo under the chin last July in Epsom. 7 months on and absolutely no difference that I (or my husband) can see, despite following all the after-care procedures - scary support garment round the head 24/7 for 4 days, then at night for 4 weeks... went to all my Endermologie treatments... I went for my follow-up appointments and the doctor said that he thought it was a good result!! I was more cross at this than anything else - at least admit that it didn't work. Unfortunately the pre-op photos he took weren't of the side view so it was impossible to prove lack of results from his photographs.
The loss of £1950 was bad enough but I'm more gutted that it just didn't work as I had really high hopes and it was the first thing I'd found that claimed it could tackle the double chin thing.
If anyone out there does know of anything that tackles the double chin thing then let me know...

Smartlipo help
My mother has just undergone Smart Lipo also at a clinic in Epsom and under her chin. She is so bruised that she cannot see or open her mouth.
I am an extremely concerned daughter and have come on the internet to gather some information.
I am absolutely horrfied by these comments.
41315cc - did you go back to the clinic in Epsom? What has been the outcome?
Did anyone else suffer such bad bruising and swelling?
Any help would be greatfully received.

Hi
Hi there
So sorry, only just seen your post. I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. It sounds as though she went to the same place as me, as I know it's still not a particularly common procedure and Epsom is rather small...
I didn't have any problems regarding bruising - in fact, I had very little. It certainly didn't affect my vision.
I only went back for my check-ups; to be honest I felt the doctor was very aggressive at my final check up when I said I couldn't see any results and I was very put off (I'm afraid I'm not very good at standing up for myself).
I hope your mother improves soon - and I do hope it works for her.

Smartlipo
I have had smartlipo twice under my chin. The first time my chin went black from half way down my neck to up over my chin. I was horrified. I can honestly say though, that although it felt a bit sore and swollen, I could easily move and open my mouth, I do not understand why she cannot see??? I would also be very concerned as this is not a normal reaction and I would contact the clinic asap. There may be a reaction to the Lignocaine. I had the procedure repeated as it did not work the first time, it did not work the second time either so please advise her not to go through it again. Please let us now how your mother is.

Smart lipo / chin
I had smart lipo on my chin/neck area 3 months ago, I too had the experience of removing the chin strap to find a very disgusting sight, the right side of my chin was huge and black, I was just so desperate to get rid of my double chin, I was willing to be patient. 3 months later and I see no change in the appearance of my double chin.

Results of smartlipo
I am a Smartlipo doctor in Surrey.
One of may patients told me about this site when I informed her during the consultation that there is a chance - about 5 % there may be no result.Unfortuately this does happen. To improve the rate of a good result most UK doctors now are doing suctioning to mop up the liquid lysate ( liquified fat ) at the end of the procedure. The laser certainly does it's job, if the procedure is performed correctly- however, in some people the response can be unprediactable as the lystate does not get broken down as expected.Having said that some people respond even better than you would predict and have a better result. The fat in the upper abdomen if you have a hump there, is very tough and probably won't even shift with dieting, so the laer really helps there and can be quite dramatic, as with saddle bags, which may not budge even if you beocme a size zero.As one person has pointed out, you should regard this as an investment to kick start a healthier life style and with regards to the lower abdomen this is very true.I often recommed a GI diet and get really nice results
Suctioning really is key to success. No one should be black or blue after any procedure but you must expect some bruising, and some swelling in the chin area. Choose your surgeon /operator carefully; what experience do they have, preferably ( I think ) they should have surgical background and post-gradute training in surgery,( FRCS) they will feel more confident in doing the procedure.
My practice also runs out of a private hospital with back up facilities, and although it's technically staight forward, I take it very seriously. The other important point , is photography, people do change shape without sometimes realizing it,as the change is gradual, and even the docotr can be suprised at the changes on the pictures.
Also someones expectations need to be realistic and this is very, very important. The doctor must tell you what is a realistic result.I have had slim patients loose 4-5 cm in circumference from the abdomen, with the abdomen visibly changed but wanted to/expected to loose even more.
Also make sure you meet your SL operator at consultation, beware of "free" consultations- you may have alot of pressure put on you to proceed.
Some people change in the first 2 months quickly others in the last 6 weeks. The vast majority will see a change in 4 months -if it's going to happen.
Very rarely some people have been reported to have a change later.
Hope that helps. Please note these are my personal opinions. Apologies for spelling

Results of smartlipo
Just so there is no confusion regarding the qualifications of the Smartlipo operator, it is my personal opinion that the person should preferably have some post graduate surgical experience and hold an FRCS/ MRCS. Having that qualification means that they have. However there is no requirement by the HCC or in law for anyone to anyone to hold that qualification
I am aware of many reputable SL operators in the UK who do not hold these specific qualification but never the less have some considerable surgical experience with minor ops as well as Smartlipo specifically. It is this experience you should gauge when assessing if a particular clinic , its facilities and the operator inpsire your condfidence.

Smartlipo success!
Hi guys,
I had Smartlipo 2 days ago with Dr Lucy Glancey at her East Bergholt clinic. I decided to go with Dr Glancey after reading another ladies success story on this forum and after extensive research into regular lipo and Smartlipo.
I have nothing but praise for Dr Glancey and her wonderful medical team. I was given realistic expectations and the post-op care has been brilliant so far. I had the procedure on my ankles and around my knees and I can already see a fantastic improvement, even with the post-op swelling. I have noticed on this forum that a couple of people have had Smartlipo WITHOUT suction. I already knew I wanted suction to be sure of a good result and Dr Glancey confirmed that she would not perform this procedure without suction.
I'm sure that my body will metabolise some of the 'lystate' (lasered fat) that may be left, but I get the impression that it's more a 'pot-luck' situation if you have this procedure without suction.
Please PM me if you would like more details!

Smart lipo - fantastic
I had a great experience. Used Mike Commins, Hans Place, Knightsbridge. He and all his staff have had the procedure so that was really reasuring. He was gentle and really caring throughout the procedure. Bit of discomfort but no real pain. Got on the train and went home after (1 hour) and drove the next day. Bit swollen, some bruising. No sleep lose but tender for a couple of days. Compression garment like Trinny and Susanna pants need to be worn for a week, I did for three to get best results. So pleased, lost 2 inchs from my thighs. Helped myself by making sure I ate healthy and didn't overindulge for first month (not sure it makes ay difference though)

Smartlipo
Hi - I had mine in July - absolutely ZERO result. No refund or offer to redress the problem. Was given a pat on the back and told "sometimes it doesn't work". Very comforting. They really should tell you this at consultation but for obvious reasons, don't. Go for tried and trusted liposuction, at least you pay for something that actually works and you're not waiting for months in anticipation of a result that may or may not happen at all.

Smartlipo
Since my last message I have been back to the same Dr and had the treatment again at the begining of December. This time he used his new machine which sucks out some of the fat aswell. I was surprised to have little bruising this time and the procedure did feel alot more comfortable than last time. I have yet to see clear visible results but it has only been a month. However I am now hitting the gym and have started the usual dieting after Xmas. After reading other peoples results I am feeling somewhat sceptical and have a feeling any change in body shape will be down to my exercise and dieting.

Smart lipo
I did a lot of research regarding this and attended a number of consultations. According to literature it works but none of those whom I consulted would offer after care and guarantee its effectiveness. And yes it is quite expansive. I subsequently opted for the normal lipo which I had done last week. Although I am extremely happy with the love handle area (all gone) I am extremely unhappy with the other areas (tummy and legs). Needless to say almost 10 days on and I am in a great deal of pain on my legs. If you opt for smart lipo make sure that they guarantee the proceedure and find out what they would offer if it does not work - get it in writing. If you are just having one area done you may want to consider the normal lipo - get a number of quotes, you will be suprised with the difference in price Good luck

No results
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I also underwent smartlipo to my knees at the beginning of May and so far I've seen zero results. I feel completely duped as I also paid out what I consider to be a substantial amount of money. There seems to be more and more clinics in the UK offereing Smartlipo but very little if any feedback can be found by searching on the internet. I believe that Smartlipo in the USA is more effective because they suction the fat out at the same time, whereas in this country it's left in to be gradually absorbed by the body.I think that without suctioning the fat, the results are very poor indeed !

My Sister had smart lipo on her inner thighs a year ago .... she has had zero results!!
I have just got back (3 days ago) from having liposculpture and would recomend it if you have areas of fat that will not shift!

My smart lipo has been brill
I had smart Lipo on my knees 2 months ago. Dr Lucy Glancy carried out the procedure at East Bergholt Clinic in Essex. She seemed to use a mixture of tecniques, local anesthetic, the laser procedure but then she used suction to remove the fat (there was a lot).I wore the compression garment for several weeks ( advised by other members of staff who had had it done) and there was a fair amount of bruising . Before pics were taken so I can see the original. I have just been for follow up fat reducing injections ( painless)and will have some more in a few weeks. Dr glancy is amazingly conciencious and I have had remarkable after care. The staff and nurses are most caring and personable. I am more than happy with the results and will be going back in the new year for midriff work.
