"Labia reduction with dr moraci (hmc)" Posted by littlemisssleepy 6 May at 16:52
Hi all, I'm new to this and never posted a thread before but wanted to share my cosmetic surgery experience.
I have always had excessively long inner labia which had been causing me several problems, soreness when wearing tight jeans, nipping when wearing thongs, pain if I sat down too quickly where my labia would almost get "caught up" or "tangled" is the only way I could describe it (sorry kinda gross I know) and the obvious self confidence issues in sexual situations with boyfriend etc. Luckily none of my boyfriends minded it , it was me who had an issue with my labia! However, this year, I finally found myself in a financial postion where I could afford the surgery, after thinking about it for the past 10 years at least.
So I took myself down to Harley Medical group back in Feb for a consultation with the nurse. It is a very warm and welcoming place and all the staff are so friendly and put you totally at ease. I went in to a consultation room with my nurse counsellor Heidi who was so lovely, she chatted to me about why I wanted the op and how much thought I had put in to it etc.....think she was checking I wasn't doing it on a spur on the moment thing due to vanity or pressure from a man lol. She was so understanding which i was pleased about as I hadn't discussed this with anyone before, not even friends so it was quite emotional for me. I was sure I wanted to go ahead so booked the op at highgate for end of April.
My next appointment was early April for the pre op at Harley Street where I met my surgeon Dr Moraci. I was quite shocked at how young he was! I certainly wasn't expecting a young "italian stallion" type but more of a "distinguished older gentleman" so I was immediately nervous, considering the delicacy of the area involved! However, he was very smley and friendly and put me at ease but was totally professional and knowledgeable, took a look at the area and explained how the procedure would work drawing me pictures of what he would do. We laughed about how I had to give up the gym for a while after only just getting back in to it. I left him feeling fully confident despite my initial reservations. Then I saw the nurses on the same day who took my height, weight, and a blood test (which took ages because she couldn't find my vein) and went through a general health questionaire. I then paid for the procedure.
Then I got home and did the worst thing possible - googled Dr Moraci and found a few bad comments about him on forums like he messed up someone's nose job and tried to kiss patients etc and was dating some glamour/porn star! I was obviously concerned by this to say the least! However, HMC had recommended me choose him as my surgeon as he is the best at this kind of surgery apparently, and luckily I had already met him so felt comfortable with him. I am glad I hadn't googled him before hand as this would probably put me off and I may have even cancelled!
I had the op at the end of April. I had to be at the hospital at 7.30am , was shown straight to my room which was pretty much like an average hotel room. Then at 8am the anaesthetist came in and told me to hurry up and get changed in to the gown and socks as they were waiting for me, then everything was a mad rush....a nurse came in to take my blood pressure and Dr Moraci came in to check I was ok and that i was the first patient of the day. Was so tired as I hadn't slept the night before, didn't even think about being nervous. Another nurse came and walked me down to theatre, the anaesthetist injected me straight away and said "think nice thoughts as you will be off to sleep soon" I wasn't expecting a general anaesthetic so just had time for this to register that I wuld be put to sleep then off I dozed. Woke up by 10.30 am feeling quite sick from the anaesthetic but not in pain but a bit "tingly" down below. I spent the rest of the day sleeping and managed to eat some tea and toast. Was shocked at how much blood there was when I first went to the toliet but it didn't cause me any more pain when urinating. This amount of bleeding is normal.Being impatient I was desperate to leave and get home as soon as possible, so when Mr Moraci came to see me, he said "I hear you are desperate to escape!" and I was like hell yeah - get me home!!! He said he was really pleased with how it went and that everything went "really well" but that I wuld be sore for a few days.
Coming home was when the pain started, my friend drove me home (about an hours drive) and I spent the journey trying not to sit my full weight down in the seat! and for the next few days I could only lie down or stand. I couldn't sit up straight, putting weight on the area! I was also very swollen! All the websites and nurses say you only need a few days before resuming normal activity - I had booked a week off work just in case - and boy i needed that full week to recover! It was only a week later that I can now sit down properly. Had my post op with the nurse at Harley today and everything looks to be healing nicely although it is still sore to drive or sit for long periods of time. I have my follow up appointment with Mr Moraci in 5 weeks so hopefully will see a full result by then!
Sorry...this has been such a long post but hoping it may help others who are thinking about this type of surgery or have concerns about Mr Moraci. I would recommend him as a surgeon. all in all in my experience is he is very professional and a good surgeon. Think of the cute smile as a bonus hehe
Had to laugh when I saw the labiaplasty patient on Embarrassing bodies this week - showed the happy lady 4 weeks after....perhaps they should have showed her 4 days after waddling around like a duck, like I was!!
Good Luck everyone x
