Girls with overs - amount of time in sports bra?

Hi girlies,

Just wondering how many weeks you wore your surgical bra or sports bra for? I am having my op at elyzea and so will get that surgical bra - just wondering how long I have to wear it for - whether I can wear a sports bra instead, and when I can start wearing nice bras.

Just thinking for nights out after op - I don't wanna be going out in a surgical bra up to my collar bone, as I don't have any tops that go up that far!

I had a cautious surgeon...

I was advised by my PS to stay in my sports bras day and night for 6 weeks, then I could stop wearing the bars at night and switch to regular but non-wired bras until I was six months post op. Seems excessive, but I am doing my best to stick with it since if anything were to go wrong he would be able to say I caused it!

I found it really hard to sleep in the bras so I ditched the night support after about a month, and stayed mostly in my sports bras during the day except when i went out, then I would allow myself a pretty bra or - little devil - no bra!

Hmmm

hi ya
i had ba 4weeks ago at elyzea, 435cc overs

after about 4 days i swapped my elyzea bra for another sports bra that was less tigh althought this was only for around half an hour in the day!

you have to wear the support bra day and night for 4 weeks then you have to only wear it in the day for the other two weeks make it 6 weeksin total
yes when you take the bra off they feel really heavy like they will fall off but you soon get used of the extra weight!

the bra i must admit has provided great support but now when wearing it- in clothes my boobs look squasahed down!

as for showering- you are allowed to shower after 5 days- bathing the scars every two days.
you aren't allowed to emmerse in water ie bathe or swim for 6 weeks.

you cannot wear underwired bras for 3 months nor sleep on your front.

i have been horse riding( high impact on boobies) tho with two sports bras on and i feel fine
oh yeah around 3 weeks po i was naughty and didn't wear the bra on a night out- only a supportive halter neck(puppies looked great) but as soon as i got back i put it straight back on
good luck

6 weeks day and night

I was told to wear sports bra for first 6 weeks

Bras"

hi hun,
dont know about the elyzea bra as i had my op elsewhere.
i have overs and am wearing a sports bra and have been told to wear this continuously for 6 weeks.
In fact last night my bra was rubbing on my stitches so i took it off, probably the wrong thing to do.x

Elyzea bra

I had to stop wearing my elyzea bra, it was 3 cup sizes too small and was really painful. I swapped to regular sports bras. You cant wear wired bras for about 3 months. At the end of the day the medical/sports bra supports your boobs and muscles while its all knitting back together. At first it feels really weird not to have the sports bra on, you kinda hold them LOL

Constant wear??

When is it that you can get them wet? How many days/weeks til I can stand in the shower and is it okay to go braless for certain night time activities if you get my drift.

Showers

hi hun,
i had my 7 day check up on monday and was told i could have a shower and get them wet but not soak them or rub any soap or shower gel into the stitches.x

I like to know too

im going out with my fiance this wk and he has not seen me since ba 8 days ago, my stitches are still in but i really want to look nice for him! i wl be 10days po
think i wil stil hav to wear sports thing, but to be honest think i get more support frm a gel bra! thought i could stick guaze pad over stitches.?

infact last nite in bed, stitches were rubbing on my bra and i took it off during my sleep and forgot til i woke up this morning

6 wks

i had overs. i went with transform in london and was told to wear a sports bra or good support bra for the 1st 6wks. and that's what i did.

started wearing underwired bras and normal non wired bras from 6wks onwards. still wore my sports bra sometimes too.

i'm now 10wks post op and still wear my sports bra in bed every night.
