"Itchy scars and dressings...couple of questions for the post op girlies"
Posted by wonderbird22 5 July  at  19:10

Hey girls,
I am ten days post op and in the last couple of days my scars have been itchy...is this normal?

When will they soften and start to drop?

I had 310cc overs.

Also when did you take the dressings off?

Thanks guys xx

I had unders, but just to give the flip side in case others are reading...
My scars stopped being itchy at about 2 weeks ish, they only noticeably softened about 4-5 weeks, and after clearance for massaging (at 6 weeks) I can feel and see them getting softer daily.
I got told I should still expect some dropping at my 6 week post op check.
My dressings got taken off at 5 days post op, and replaced with steri-strips, which I continued to change and wear up until about 5 weeks (just personal preference- I was told I didn't have to, as long as there was a soft barrier between the sports bra and the scar).

Hope that helped a little

The PS took my dressing off at my 7 day check and they had started to drop from about 2 weeks (I had 300cc overs). I'm now 7 weeks and at my 6 week check, PS said they wouldn't change much now.
