Starting on the ivf journey

Has anyone recently been referred for ivf? I suffer from endometriosis and polycystic ovaries. We have been trying for 6 years now (im 32) and have just been referred for ivf as clomid did not work. I have no other children.

I have watched in despair as nearly all my friends have got pregnant with apparent ease.

I would like to hear from anyone who is going through the same as me so we can share our experiences. infertility is mentally as well as physically draining and I think knowing someone feels the same as you can make the whole process of trying for a baby more bearable.

I so know how you are feeling Rachael.

I have blocked fallopian tubes and have been trying for 2 years. I have been told that I have just got no choice but to have IVF. In fact, I am currently on the nasal spray and start the Gonal F injections on 11th NOvember. Egg collection is on the 23rd NOvember. This is our 1st attempt at IVF and I so hope that it works. I don't know how much more heart ache and dissapointment I can take.

Ivf

Hi, we have just started our IVF journey, Just on my first course of injections and god does it may you hormonal !!

I have watched my friends and family fall pregnant with ease and while i am happy for them I also feel so jealous that they have had a baby so easily.

When do you start your injections
xx

Ivf/icsi

Hi,

Rachael I'm also strarting Ivf but with Icsi because hubby has low sperm count. I also have pcos. We have been trying for over 2 years with no luck. I am waiting for my period to start hopefully in a few days so I could start my 'down regulation' injections. I am nervous but excited. I'm not gonna get my hopes up though, I will just try and relax and be stress free. I hope it works out for both of us on the first try.

I've also watched every1 around me giving birth. As soon as some1 gets married they are pregnant and everywhere I go, I get asked if I am pregnant yet and why I'm taking so long. It gets really frustrating till the point where I don't want to meet people.

I would love to share my experiences and here yours.

Love, Sarah

Infertility and ivf

Hi Rachael,

I recently had IVF treatment and unfortunetly it was unsuccessful but I'm glad I done it.

Like you I am 32 and have also been trying for six years. I had a operation to remove a rather large fibroid two years ago. We thought we would be able to concieve naturally following this but there were complications. I was recently told that I may need further surgery in order to concieve.

I understand the emotional rollercoaster you are on, five of my friends are expecting babies and my younger sister who has two children already is now expecting twins.(completely unplanned).

Sometimes I feel like I am the only one in the world going through this as it's not something that us woman want to broadcast. We are planning to try IVF again. I was told the best time to try is in the spring and a positive mind is essential. It does work for some woman and 32 is still considered young . I would suggest that you tell a friend that you are going through the treatment as it can be very emotional. It also a very exciting experiences as there is a real sense of possibility.

I hope this helps
Let me know how your getting on.

Mona

Ivf was successful for me i am sure it can be for you also

Hi Rachael
I had my first ivf treatment four years ago and am happy to say i now have a cheeky little 3 year old boy. I was lucky as it worked the first time for me so please bear this in mind it is possible. I started all the investigations and test in october and in january i started the injections and drugs and by march i was pregnant. I must say that it wasn't half as unpleasant as i thought it was going to be and the whole process was not painful at all just a bit uncomfortable. I was lucky enough to have 4 embryos frozen and stored and have just had two of them implanted on monday 15th january i now have to wait 2 weeks from that date to do a pregnancy test to see if i have been successful the second time although the success rate with frozen embryos is not as high as with fresh. I am experiencing awful period like pains which i remember from last time so fingers crossed i do not have a period and that things will work out. Please if there is anything you need to know or just want to talk please get in touch my email is psha1969@aol.com
good luck and take care

Going through the same

Hi Rachael,

I have to go through IVF as well...I'm going to start after the new year. The reason we're doing is because my boyfriends' got the problem. We found out about 3 months ago after 1 1/2 years of trying! I know what you mean about everyone having babies with such ease! My sister in law found yesterday she was pregnant! While I'm overjoyed for her, I have the green eyed monster going mental inside! I feel like such a selfish cow!! Obviously can't show how i'm feeling but worried about being such a bad actress!! Anyway good luck to you! When are you starting? I'll let you know how I get on to!!
love, Amalya

Going through the same

Hi Amalya

How are you? Have you started your IVF yet? Ive got my first appointment on 20 March at a clinic near London. Im excited but also nervous at the same time. My friend had her third baby today and whilst I am happy for her I am starting to feel a bit down about it, just makes you realise what you are missing. Hope to hear from you soon.

Going through the same

Hi Amalya

My doctor has told me that I should expect my first appointment at the end of January for an initial assessment. Im just hoping I wont have to wait too long after that.

Its very hard isnt it just to keep smiling when everyone is talking babies!!

Good luck. I hope everything works out for you. I will let you know how I get on aswell.

Love Rachaelx

Clomid

Just curious - what did not work with Clomid (no ovulation?)
Good luck with the IVF

Clomid

Thank you.

The clomid did not work as it did not make me ovulate or have regular periods. My monthly progesterone levels were practically zero even though I was taking it at 150mg. After a year of taking it, it has been decided that ivf is the only option.
