Hi ladies

Hope you're all well - I still can't seem to stay away lol

Anyhoo I know contraception is the last thing on peoples minds on this forum but as some of you may know, DP & I have put ttc on hold for the time being. I am finding it extremely difficult, especially when using a condom. So I was hoping if someone had advice or experiences of differnt forms of contraception. I have tried the pill back in July but I was a wreck because of it, the time before that was 6 years prior - again stopped taking it cos I was an emotional wreck. So my thoughts go to the Implanon Implant or the coil. Now I know the Implanon releases hormones so I am swayed towards the coil, IUD not IUS which also releases hormones. However, I have heard that the coil has a high risk of causing ectopic pregnancies.

Any advice would be much appreciated as I don't want to be holding out on BD'ing

xx

if u check out www.ectopic.org.uk there are a lot of girls blame the coil for their ectopic pregnancies so i would avoid that. we're just using the 'withdrawl method' just now although its not terribly safe lol.

i was on cerazette before ttc but i will NEVER go back on that. i realised after i came off it what it was doing to me.

the implant i think you've got to keep in for so long, i vaguely remember being told i had to have a chat with some1 before having it to make sure i didnt want to ttc for 3/4 years coz of the expense of having it put in? i may be totally wrong tho.

what about the injection? it only lasts 12 weeks so if it doesn't suit u or oh changes his mind u dont have a long time before it wears of.

How's things? Hope you're feeling bit better now, know you've been bit fed up after stopping ttc.
I have only ever used the pill.. but I wondered if you'd tried different types of pills? Another kind might work for you, I was on Cilest for 9 years with absolutely no problems. I didn't notice different between being on it and after coming off it, emotionally, weight, spots etc... so it mustn't have mucked up my hormones too much .

If I couldn't have had the pill though, personally I'd go for the coil.

good luck Lea xx

well not to scare you but my mother in law fell pg with coil and baby formed around it so she had to have it removed, it cant have but her off it tho cos shes ad it fitted again. also got a friend who had injection, for first month or so she had a bad time with it but shes fine now and been on it over a year. such a shame ur dp wont budge on the ttc thing. try fluttering your eye lashes more and try getting him to imagine being a daddy. lol

I personally could never remember to take the pill so I have had a coil twice. My last one was taken out earlier this year and had been 'in' for 4 years. I had no probs at all and it was the one without hormones so my doctor reassured me recently that I should be able to conceive straight away once removed unlike the pill where you have to wait for the hormones to come out of your system.
There is a slight risk of ectopic i can't remember the percentage sorry but its not high and for me it was the ideal contraception and we had years of carefree bding !!!!lol

t care

Anwsers much appreciated, I thought I best reply now cos in a few hours I will have consumed too much wine to make any sense - hopefully

Hi Gail, hope all is well. I have thought about the withdrawal method but I don't know how to put it to DP, I think he'll think that maybe I'm trying to get pg still & he'll worry that it's too much of a risk. I'll raise the subject still (lol no pun intended) Cheers xx

Hi Lea, good thx & u? Years ago when I did try the pill I had 3 different ones, Microginol or something like that (white & green pack), something else & the mini pill which apparently has the same ingredients as the injection, then back in July I tried cerezette, but like Gail my body & mind couldn't cope, just like all the other pills really. Cheers xx

Hey Sarah, been basting any turkey's lately
I'm torm on this coil thing, I've tried fluttering eyelashes but after a few wine's it just looks like I'm losing conciousness lol Cheers xx

Hi Linzi, yeah I've heard that about the implant, my sister in law had it & I didn't like the feel of it in her arm urrgh. Hope you're ell, AF still giving you gip? xx

Hi Em, was there much to explain to you by the doc about the coil? Aarrgh don't know what to do lol Cheers xx

Hi Rach, missing Mexico yet?? especially with our weather - it's meant to snow next week!!
Anyhoo, we have used condoms for the past 7 years -apart from the trials of the pills, we have never liked them but tough cos the pill made me into (more) of a hormonal raving devil woman who cried all the time lol I would carry on using them if I didn't want a baby but by using them it's almost "in ya face" sort of thing that we are preventing it - if you get me & with that I get sooo upset. Fingers crossed I can make up my mind lol Cheers xx
