Your reasons for choosing to have a baby?

Hi,watching the news this morning,i heard that some women were choosing to have a baby later in life and the reporter was saying that this may cause health problems and complications for mother and baby.It got me thinking about the reasons we choose to have children.Personally i always knew i wanted to have children and enjoy everything about them.I am intrested to know the reasons women desire to have a child.x

Hi

well up untill being about 17ish i always said i never wanted kids. i think the reason being is that at some point whether it be alone or with a partner you feel the urge to love and care for someone that is and always will be yours. everything else in life comes and goes, jobs, friends, b/f, homes etc... but your child will always be your child no matter what. im 24 now, so is b/f, and although i can understand some ppl wanting to have a career first, we have a steady income, recently got a house and have lots of energy to be running round with our kids. i suppose each to there own and everyone has there reasons.

Can't really pin it down

I always said i didn't want kids and then ping one day i really really wanted to have my own family. I think that i just didn't feel grown up enough or in the right place til now in rented house, not earning much etc. i think i needed to feel stable myself before i could take on the responsibility of being a parent. Hubby feels pretty much the same way, we have been talking about it for months and months and then both decided two months ago that now is the time to start trying.

Hi

Well, I've always known I wanted my own family. I'd like to adopt too - I came from a broken family and wanted to provide other kids with a stable loving home.

I've been ready for kids since I was about 28 but didn't get the chance to try until this year. I waited for my hubby to decide he was ready - we both just got to an age when we knew we wanted kids. It was weird, it was like one day you woke up and just felt the urge to. Now its something we know we definately want (good job cause we're pregnant!) and wish we'd started much earlier.

For me, I wanted to travel and enjoy myself in my early twenties then there's paying off all those student loans and getting married etc - those things kind of put off being able to afford kids. It's difficult for women to start a family earlier these days as we have to wait for the men to be ready - they seem to want to have fun for longer now (just my opinion) and are less reluctant to be settled down. This is obviously a generilisation and not all men are like that. If my partner would have been ready we'd have started much earlier.

xx

hi, i am 1 of 4 kids and always wanted a large family like i had, and i always thought about being a good mum and have always wanted to be a stay ay home mum and give my kids a good fun home and family life.
i had a happy childhood and now i'm 24 and although i still feel very young i feel a big urge to have kids and give them all the love they need and maybe even take me back to my childhood a bit lol! like saving to take them to disney world and things like that and just to see them laughing and smiling and learning new things, and changing every day, its all magical..................any way i'm getting a little mushy now but basically i love em!!!!
take care
