Dont worry about not getting a positive on an ov test i have never had a positive one, and i know i ovulate as my blood tests showed i do, you have to test at the time of the hormone surge so it could be that your just missing it maybe. Do you get egg white cervical fluid?? (tmi lol)

When i 1st started trying to conceive my periods were between 27 and 33 days so i started charting my temerature to pin point my ovulation days and that also showed i ovulated , but if your periods are regular then you should be fine, you will get your results from your blood tests after 2 weeks so its not too long. If you are getting stressed that can delay your ovulation so maybe thats why you had a longer cycle?? When i went into hospital to have my operation i was supposed to ovulate that same day and i didnt until 2 weeks later so i had a 44 day cycle that month!! the longest ever and my fertility specialist told me that the stress of the op would have delayed my ovulation.

Anyway i'm waffling, a HSG is a test they do where they put coloured fluid through your falopian tubes to see if there are any blockages, you just have to go to the hospital and they put a thing like a smear test thing in you and a few other bits n bobs lol, then they put the dye in and take an exray, mine showed up fine, thank goodness, thats the next stage after blood tests if they dont show anything.

Been trying a yr.

i know there are many ppl out there who after a yr are not preganant so i will say sorry now just in case u feel i need to.

We have been trying for a yr now and having no luck, everyone at work are getting preganant and its starting to get me down, i need answers to why its not our turn, im planning on going to the docs next month just trying to sort time off work as ppl dont know im tyring, has any one else been to the doctors after a yr? and what did the doctor say? is there any point me going?

I do want to know if there is something wrong me withof my fella.

Aslo how old is every one? and are u trying for your 1st baby?

Im 29 and OH is 34.

Im so despreed for a baby now

Any advice would be great

It might be worth just checking things out with your doctor - whether that's arranging a sperm sample for your partner or having some tests yourself, it might just put your mind at rest and reassure you.

My partner and I have just started trying for a baby - he had a vasectomy reversal op recently after 15 years and we've been told the chances are far from great. He's 42 and has 2 grown up children from his previous relationship. I'm 30 and never wanted to have children until I met him but he's changed everything around for me! It makes me sad that we only have a small chance of having a child together as for me, this means maybe never having any children of my own. On the other hand, even a small chance is better than none and we've worked pretty hard to even be in the position where we've saved the money for the op and got through that. I think this sort of experience can really bring you closer together as a couple when you're facing it together.

Hello there!

I am in the same predicament as yourself and it is so good to find someone else struggling like me, and to read the helpful mails from everyone else.

I have joined the forum today because I actually feel like crying at the moment. Have been trying for 1 year and 1/2, and in that time 5 of my friends and my younger sister have got pregnant (my sister very recently and one of my friends after just starting to try a couple of months ago).

It is getting really hard now to keep saying congratulations to everyone and hiding the fact that it crushes me inside, and I feel so bad for feeling more hurt everytime one of my friends is pregnant as I should feel happy for them. I meet up with friends and their children a lot, put on a happy face but always come away feeling so sad and like something is missing. It is worse knowing they are all sorry for me as well.......

I am all torn up inside about it, but also really scared about going to doctor incase he says there is something wrong. If I found out I could never have children it would devastate me. I am 33 and my OH is 34. The other issue is my periods can range from 31-42 days at their longest so timing BD is really really hard. I am tired and fed up with it all.

There-I have ranted too now Perhaps it would be good to stay in touch and keep each other informed of how we are going and what we are doing to stay positive.

hi, you have irregular periods like me . it may be pcos. in which case it is still pos to get preg, but makes it a little harder because of irregular periods. there are thousands of people with it who get preg. you should go to doc about it. i went when i was with my last partner and they reffered us to a fertillity clinic, they can do diff test and things. i know its scary but in the long run its better to go as they can offer help to get you pregnant.!

i know how you feel. i have also been trying a long time and have friends getting pregnant who have only just started trying. it makes feel so depressed when all i wanna do is feel happy for them.

im happy for us to stay in touch and keep each other in good sprit as its so hard each month and like u said ppl are every where getting preg, even ppl i know who didnt really there child and went for an aborntion but it dont work so lady kept baby,luck baby is doing fine,

I work with children so it even a bit harder, and ppl at work ar preg, 2 ppl in the same roon i work in so its mainly baby talk. i put on a very brave and happy face but like u said it tears u up in side and friends out of work all have kids.

even watching tv or looking in magazines preg pl evey where.

Between xmas and new yr im going to the doc and see what tests they can do and if where the porblem lie if its me or OH.

I have added you as a friend too! I am so pleased to at last be able to share all my emotions about this with someone.

Not been to the docs yet as been to scared to go! (Silly I know). I just do not want to find out something is really wrong.

I know what you mean about pregnancy being everywhere, it just makes it so so much harder to deal with. Must be particularly hard for you working with children everyday as well.

I do not know if you have had people tell you what they keep telling me: "just relax and it will happen" - I wish it was that easy to do!!!!!!!!!

Me and my OH are away on holiday over the Christmas period so I have a choice of either seeing the doc now or waiting till the New Year.

I really hope all goes really really well for you when you see the doctor.

get to the docs, im def going as i so wanna know if every thing is ok and if not then we can get something done, i guess my only problem i have is maybe getting OH to docs he'll prob say im been silly but im not getting any younger and he is not either, OH is a smoker and a drinker, but ppl i know who have had kids drink and smoke.

I wish also it was that easy just to sit back and relex they are not in my shoes.

I will let u know what this next months goes and u never know it may be my month, one of my friends said ill be preg for xmas so i will have to see.

Hi there hun,

I am not too bad thank you, as you said, much much better to have you to share things with.

I am currently waiting for my AF to start and getting really really frustrated. This is normally the worse bit for me, as I know it is going to start (cramping, sore breasts etc) but I never know when so every month it always gets my hopes up and then shatters them again. My cycle ranges from 31-42 days, so in theory I would never be able to test until after 42 days anyway as my period could be dragging again. I am on day 37 today, and I just need it to start now to put me out of my misery so I can cry and then get ready for another month of trying.

What you said about going to the docs is true, I should go. Once AF has started I will make an appointment. I also have the same problem with my OH-he smokes but does not drink too much, but I know he will find it a bit strange going to the doctor to be checked.

I will let you know when AF has started and I have booked my doctor appointment too....

I will keep all my fingers crossed for you this month and sending you much love and baby dust that this month will be your time

your cycles are long mine are never that long, every one is different.

yes do go to the docs puts your mind at rest and if things are not right then the docs will know what to do, my OH will be uncomfortable going to doc but if everything is fine with me he has to go.

Im 34+OH is 38.We have been trying for 2 years.I would advise you to go+see your GP.I did that+was referred to a fertility clinic,had a laparoscopy which showed 1 fallopian tube was slighty shorter than the other,but apparantely not a major problem(which i now would question),had a HSG+was given so many cycles for this to work+it didnt,so now i am being referred for IVF+am soo excited.OH had his swimmers checked+they good+initally i had my bloods done+all was okay there.Love+babydust.xxxxxxxxxx xxx

Jojo has explained what a HSG is.Quite a simple procedure,mine came up fine showed that there was nothing wrong!!I could see the dye going through as i was lying with my legs in sterrips lol.I hope you get some answers soon.Love+babydust.xxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxx

Hey Hun,

this is the place to rant and moan lol, I'm 33 been trying for 3 years and i didnt go to the doctors until we got to the 2 year mark, so my advice would be go to the doctors straight away!! There is probably nothing wrong but it takes so long for you to get appointments through that the sooner you go the better.

When I first went to the doctors she just sent me for a blood test to check i was ovulating and my oh had to have his swimmers checked, my bloods came back normal but my oh showed a low sperm count. So we then had to wait about 3/4 months to be refered to see a fertility specialist who sent me for a chlamydia swab, a hsg, an ultrasound and another blood test and oh had to do another swimmers test to test for something different. I wasnt expecting anything to be wrong with me as i'm not over weight and dont have any symptoms that would suggest pcos or anything else, my periods were 31 days and not painful, so when they said I had pcos i was so shocked!! And they said my oh sperm is normal and actually very good!! (thank god!!!)

So I would definately go if i were you, even just to put your mind at rest, and then at least if they do find something you have something to act on. But it can take a healthy couple 2 years, so they say but that doesnt make us feel better when every where around us people are falling pregnant at the drop of a hat and asking us when we are going to start!!!! How do these people fall pregnant from a 1 night stand!!! lol

You know where we are anytime you need a moan and you dont have to feel bad for moaning when you have been trying a year, its bloody ages!! lol I go through stages, sometimes it really gets me down and other times i'm really positive, having a positive month this month but i'm sure i'll be back to moaning next month lol!!!

Good luck hun let us know how you get on at the doctors, i'll keep my fingers crossed that everything is ok, or that you get bfp before you get around to going lol

I dont even know if im ovulating as i have taken test and thay have said negative dont know if i am testing on the right day lol.

I will def keep u all posted onnthe docs and see howthis next 2 weeks go AF DUE WED 11TH but really hope dont been BDing on right days well if i am ovulating on the right days

I get some sort of white fuild i feels like im weeing a bit (tmi) but im not and have white/cream clolur in knickers,it happened yesterday. (Sorry been TMi lol)

my periods are regular they have always been ever snice i can remeber which is a long time. i almost know the correct day and know.

from reading your part about periods been 27 and 33 days i have looked at my book where i keep things written down and mine are do a few time its been 25 days but never bled forlonglike 2 days but this last month 5 days which i was surpised at. Maybe the pill is out of my system.

Do you know how long the pill take to get out of body completely?

i've just popped over from expecting site, it took me a year to concieve my first baby which ended in miscarriage then another year to concieve My little girl Maisie, i am now pg again and Maisie is only 5 months old!!! it was like waiting for a bus nothing for 2 years then 2 at once!!!!
but as you have been trying a year the docs can refer you to gyno and they can do some tests for you and your hubby.
i was booked in ready to go when i got pg with my daughter then had to cancel the appointment.
try not upset yourself too much and maybe try going to the docs and he will run through some options with you.
are your periods regular?

my periods have awalys been on time right on the day but last month i was not i was 5 days late and AF turned up and i bled for 5 days but perivous monthsi have been bleeding for 2 to 3 days mainly 2 days, so dont know why i was late I did a preg test and it was negative.

Hi huni i have been trying with my partner now for over a year with no luck it's very common but very hard every month is a nightmare for me! But the best place is the docs, i only found out april of this year that I had Pcos and Ive only bein ovulataing since sept, so ive only really properly been trying for 1 month with a full chance of being preg, its never to early to see the doc as even if their are no prob it takes ages to get to see afertility expert so it good to get on the list even if there are no problems!
