just a quetion, how many people can i take into the delivery suite, i'd like my boyfriend definatley, but he works away alot, so i asked his nieces mum, whos a nurse, only thing is his mother is abit put out i didnt ask her, its my birth and i dont want to upset her, is it possible to take all 3, if my boyfriend is at home, then its no question, he's there!!!
i took his mum to the scan today as he is away working and wouldnt get home for another week, and she was so happy.
do you think i should ask the hospital what their policy is?
thank you

I stressed over this very subject and had decided to have my Mom, Mother-in-law and Husband. However without asking me my Husband told his Sister she could be in there so my Sisters (3) wanted to be in there too. The hospital I went to said they like to see as much support as they can get but I think they were talking about 4. I ended up having about 8 people in the room! I will never do that again. I dreaded it because my Mother likes to make herself the center of attention by causing a scene or bossing. I knew if I didn't let ehr be there she would cause a family fued. I let her be there and she was resticted from bossing and she made a very big scene! So that is why I say less is better, in my case anyway. You want 3 at the most so I would say that should be alright.

during my labour there was only me the midwife and my partner and even they did my head in lol so i would not have wanted anyone else there!despite doing my head in, my partner was absolutely brilliant during the whole labour!

take care xxx

I asked my hospital that question, and they told me they would prefer only having one in, but 2 is acceptable! It all depends on the hospital, so phone and find out. Good Luck xoxoxo By the way just to let you know, this is your birth...stop worrying about how other may feel if they arent in the delivery room...they will all get to see the bbay eventually. Plus I was also told that when there is to many people in the room, you are less focused on what you should be doing,,,and the others may phcyc you out a bit..things like " oh the head is coming out" ..."oh is that normal, should she be concerned" ... they may stress you out more than you should be. Just something to think about xoxooxoxoxox

called my hospital, im allowed two, but not at the same time, they could take it in turns.
so if bf is working, which he was and missed the first scan, and looking at his rota he will miss the second (works on the oil rigs) i shall take his mum and friend, if hes at home i'll take him and his mother, problem sorted.
