6weeks pregnant & need some much needed advice!!xxx

Hi
I already have a 4year old boy, and Im 6+3 weeks preg. I found out i was preg 2 weeks ago and me and my husband were over the moon with the news as i had a missed misscarriage last november.

Though last wedneday a day before i was 6 weeks i had some moderate pain(which i think is normal)but then in the evening i had a brown (though not red) discharge. Obviously it concerned me, so i went to the out of hours doctor, who too be honest only looked at me quickl and felt my stomach and then said he would refer me to EPU for a scan. This i then found out couldnt be done untill friday, another 36 hours to wait! The wait was agonising, but friday finaly came and i went up to EPU. Once i had the scan, the staff there were quite positive and said things looked fine, though they would like me to go back in 2 week(when im 8 Weeks preg) so that they could double check all was still ok, and also detect a heart beat. Even though the news they gave me was positive, i was quite concerned as i'd read (through looking on this website) that normaly you can detect a heartbeat at 6 weeks??? can someone give me some answers on this. as i am now worried something is not right, but i then think if that was the case then surely they wouldve told me at the time?!

I was also told to just not take any notice of this discharge that ive been getting, but to contact them if it got heavy and had clots in. But It is now sunday and i still have a very light brown discharge?? what do i do?!

Any advice gratefully recieved!!

From a very stressed mum of 1.xxxx

Don't worry

I had a scan last week (I was six wks) because I had terrible pains and they thought it was maybe an ectopic pregnancy. Thankfully it's not and the baby is in the right place but it was too small to see a heartbeat too - just saw a little round circle and that's about it. They didn't seem worried at all and I'm not getting another scan til my 12 week scan so I'm not worrying as all seems fine. I think it is very different with everyone and though some people see a heartbeat that early it is very common not to. With my little boy I had bleeding at 7 weeks and was sent for an early scan and you could see the heartbeat very easily (even though at the time I was told not to expect to see one) - it's amazing the difference a week makes at this stage! I would trust that all is well as the news you got was positive and worrying doesn't help anybody least of all you. Even though 2 weeks seems ages if you try and focus on other things (I know it's easier said than done) it will be here before you know it and I'm sure you will see a difference from your six week one.

xx
