I had an epidural with my first and I lost all feeling in my right leg, and it was still very painful in my back... although I didnt feel any stitches being done I also didnt feel my little girl being born and didnt know when to push or what was happening.

I am now 32 weeks pregnant and have asked my partner not to let me have another one. But you know what - if it comes to it and I cant bare the pain, then take the options given to you. The most important thing is that you are relaxed so the baby can be born safely, and if that means an epidural then go for it.

I have had two epidurals, mind you a long time ago.... my first completely blocked all sensation down my legs, could not feel to push, but i had been on & off labour for 4 days, so was exhausted!! They were also considering a c section so it was probably a total block. The second wasn't as effective, but certainly took the edge off the pain, i also was able to push and feel my son being born, which was nice! Hope this helps xx

i ahd an epidural as i had been in labour for 23 hours. althgouh i did have a c section due to bein only 6 cm dilated after this time.

it helped so much, i was able to sleep and really cannot remeber much pain at all.. basically none. i was on gas and air the whole time, had 2 pethadine injections and then the epidural.

i have heard its very hard to know when to push as you basically do get the pain cut off from the waist down,
but my cousin had her baby not lnog before me, an she was absolutely fine. she had her baby no preoblem an barely felt anything
