"Scan at 5 weeks couldn't find sac!!"

Been bleeding, believe i am about 5 weeks pregnant, not 100% sure as lost track of cycle. Started bleeding so went to hospital. I had a scan but they couldn't find anything not even sac of fluid etc. But 2 hours previous i had test and it was positive, could it be etopic pregnancy or is it just too early to see on the scan? OR worse of all have i possibly miscarried. I had a blood test and will be going back in 2 days (now tomorrow) to see if my next blood test my hormones have increased. Any comments?

I have the same problem as you and its making me feel sick with worry i to had an emergency scan and was told that no sac was there i had routine blood test and was told to come back again for a second one on bamk hoilday to see if my hormones has increased if it hasnt chances are that the baby was a loss, is this thing common in pregnancys?

Hello there, dont know if you still check here, if you mind tell me what is the outcome, because I am having an exactly same situation here.

Pregnant 5or6 weeks, spotting more than 14 days, did few home pregnancy tests during last week and today, they were all positive, but nothing could be fund in ultrasound scan. Today, the result of second blood test shows that hormone level is 581, 181 more than two days ago, another blood test will be held the day after tomorrow. Do not have any ectopic pregnancy symptoms. Anyone have any ideas please?

hiya sweetheart, i will give u as much advice as i can..... obv bleeding is not a good sign there is always the possibility that its too early to see anything yet and that ur dates were wrong, if u went back at 7 weeks u shud see a heartbeat etc and if u see noting then then presume the worst, 5 weeks is VERY early for them to see anything so u may have no reason to panic, however ur right this could be an eptopic in which u would have sharp pains on one side of tummy etc or a missed miscarriage or even a blighted ovum where the baby never develops, i am hoping they have offered u another scan for a week or sos time... thinking of u always, feel free to pm me, chantelle xx ps preg tests will show up pos for a little while afterwards as hcg will still be present even if u have miscarried x

Thank you so much for your reply. Why is it that when you're going through something (such as a possible miscarriage) its all over the tv about babies and pregnancy? Been told that while i wait for my next blood test i have to do absolutely nothing and put my feet up, been in front of the tv but can't get away from it. I think my period was due Christmas and so could be very early. Just pinning my hopes on that. They haven't booked me for another scan yet i think they want to see what the blood test says first. If my hormones are going up perhaps they'll try another scan. Its so hard, although people try to help and be there for you, if they haven't gone through it then they don't really know how you feel. The hospital says my hormones need to have increased by 66% or more. I think i've miscarried - can feel it.
