| Thread started by: | "Scared of stitches with 2nd baby, elective caesarian" Posted by matilda141 11 August at 23:34
Hi, I am not yet pregnant but trying and already panicking. With my first baby I tore quite badly and the stitching was done badly and never healed completely properly. Nothing else about the pregnancy/birth scares me just the stitches, as I am still upset about the first stitches I can't bear the thought of having them again and as bad the first time would I tear much worse the second time because of scar tissue etc? Is there any way I can choose to have a caesarian (sorry if spelt wrong) or is it just purely for medical reasons, I know the c section is a major thing etc etc but the other option scares me to death, I realise it's in my head now more than down below but bothers me soooo much Anyone advise? Thanku x

hi, i do think you can have an elective cesearean. im not too sure if they will do it as it is a major op. and the other is the safest option. i had my first baby in june 2006 by c section, as i was 12 days over and after 23 hours in labour i was only 6 cm dilated.. so it had to happen..
even though it was hard for the next few weeks, i would much rather have a c section next time i have a baby as i do think i may be pregnant now.
to make you feel a bit better though, im sure if the stitchin was done badly, it was a one off. im sure it is irritating an a bit sore, but i promise that c section is pretty difficult to deal with. try not to wory yourself, an i no that its easier said than done, but i had everything durin labour, gas and air, pethadine and epidural.. i swore i would only have gas and air, i hated the thought of the other two, but i was fine an i didnt feel a thiing. it relxes you soo much and you feel alot better.
aftwer a c section, you can barely move for the first few days although th nurses will make you to avoid clotting and that. you cannot laugh or barely clear your throut never mind cough. you have to hold your stomach doin these htings.. its pretty uncomfortable...
saying that i would do it all over again no sweat.
please dont worry.. if you have to get a few stictches,, you knwo itll be over soon, an if you get strong painkillers fromyour doctor, i reccoment brufen retards.. then im sure you'll get through it.. its instinct that we do. i hope i havent scared you., i just found it better myself knowinu what was aheasd of me! x x
