I found out last week that I was pregnant I went to see my GP who referred me the same day to the early pregnancy clinic for a scan as due to irregular periods he couldn't date it. Also I have an overactive thyroid so I believe I will need careful monitoring throughout. I had my scan and it was found I am only just 4 weeks, all that could be seen was a sac, they gave me some HCG? blood tests on the friday and then again on the sunday. The hospital called yesterday to say my bloods are good but they want me back in again for another scan to get on development. That will mean I have had two scans before being 5 weeks pregnant. This doesn't seem right to me, the sonographer mentioned it was a possibility it was ectopic but the nurse has said it doesn't look like it is - so why am I being asked to go in for another scan this week?

Has anyone else had a similar experience this early on? my partner and I have made the decision not to tell anyone about the pregnancy this early on but would be good to get someone else's opinion on it

your prob getting another one cuz of your hcg hormone levels if they jump up really quick it can indicate belighted ovum(not a good egg so no baby) ectopic or twins- all are very rare and so dont worry but ive had many scans and no harm will be done by them the hospital is just trying give you the best possible care. i had one at 4 weeks but cuz my epau is so busy i had to wait 10 days for another scan so dont worry they are just being carefull

my HGV levels were 985 on friday and they were at 1800 on sunday - does this seem very high?

well mine were 139 on week 3 so before period was due and 1 week later it had gone to just over 3000 so they rushed me in to check all was ok which was a shock cuz the doctor rang me personally and said to make sure they check for twins (which there might be, still some confusion) but yours seem fine its supposed to double or treble within a week so i dunno cuz as far as i know that seems ok. let me know how it goes im sure all is fine.
