hello hunny,iv not personaly had it ,so i advise you read up .what i do know is it will meen that when you go into labour you will have to be put on an iv of antibiotics so when the baby comes down the birth canal the infection dont pass on to baby.but like i said i havent personaly had it so do check wuth your midwife im sure she will talk you through on your next visit .dont worry, you be fine xxx

Hey, i was told when i was 17 that i had it when i went for a routeen STD check. There is not a lot of info on it but all i do know is that when you go into labour you have to go straight on antibiotics, through a drip to lower the risk of the baby catching it. Ask your midwife about it as she will be the one to advise you.

There is a website that is really helpful too: www.gbss.org.uk

hope it helps!

This weeks edition of Pregnancy and birth has got a whole section on it this week, aparently its GBS awareness week.

Basically it's as the girls said, you have antibiotics via an iv at the onset of labour or when your waters break, whichever comes first until the baby is delivered. This helps prevent the infection spreading to baby. Once born, baby is tested right away and if he/she is found to carry the infection they're given antibiotics.

Hope this helps.

good luck. Sarah & 6+4wk bump to be. xxx
