"Chemical pregnancies "

Since starting to try for a baby, I have now suffered two chemical pregnancies in a row. At least I think they are chemical pregnancies but as I live in the Middle East I haven't had positive confirmation of that as they are a little less sophisticated here. To summarise, the first time I had symptoms of a pregnancy, a feeling in my bones and a positive pregnancy test. Then the bleeding came about 5 days after my period was due (have always been regular as clockwork.) Then second time was the same although I was more cautious because of what happened the first time. Got more optomistic as time was longer (11 days) but got a negative blood test and the blood came. Feeling upset and worried that I am going to have fertility problems as don't have any previous pregnancies. Or maybe I have been incredibly unlucky. Any similar experiences I would love to share!!

Help, I'm confused. My periods have been as regular as clockwork for donkey's years, my last period was late and just as I was about to go and buy a pregnancy test I came on. The test was negative but I've been getting confused as I've heard that this 'period' could possibly be a miscarriage and I could actually have been pregnant and if I'd done the test at exactly the right time it would have been a positive result. Hope this is making sense. Could I have been pregant? And is there anyway now that I would know for sure?
Thanks

You could have been pg, as it's said that the vast majority of women have this kind of "miscarriage" without ever even knowing about it.

That's the problem with these very early pregnancy tests, as it means we can know we are pregnant almost immediately after implantation though a lot of pregnancies are not viable at that stage.

It's happened to me and it's not nice to think "what if.."

Try to stay positive and focus on your next cycle

Take care

doctors don't make it any easier do they? What he meant is that you've suffered a very early miscarriage, they call it a chemical pregnancy cos it's so early , that's all. What he meant bout the late period was that 20 years ago you probably wouldn't have known you were pregnant that soon, no early preg tests back then, and would have just thought you'd had a late period. True, but not very helpful or sensitive to your feelings. My first m/c was very early and docs treat you like it's nothing but it still hurts. Loads of people go on to have perfectly healthy pregnancies, 1 miscarriage doesn't make you more likely to have another so don't worry too much. I've had 3 in last year so it doesn't always work out but no reason to think your next one won't go smoothly. Hope this helps, don't be afraid to ask if you have more questions, someone on here will know! All the best, Clare xx

hey thanx for your reply its helped alot as ive already got 3 little darlings but have neva cum across the term chemical miscarriage and it was even harder for me to deal with as i didnt no much about it i thought maybe it was caused by sumthing i did which is not the case, soz to ramble but ive needed to no as me an my partner desperate to try again an im due to ovulate this week an im full of mixed emotions one at the very top of my list is scared!! thanx again all the best x
"I'm scared too!"

Hi again,

doctors make me so angry, it wouldn't hurt them to take the time to explain what's happened to us, thank god for forums! Scared is top of my list too, had 3rd miscarriage on 9/7/07, stopped bleeding 23/7 and am pretty sure I'm 2 weeks pregnant again! Think I ovulated around 31/7 as had some pain (don't chart or anything-yet!) and have had 3 positive home tests since, the last one yesterday. There is a chance it's leftover hormones from the m/c making the test read positive so trying not to get my hopes up but I feel pregnant if that makes sense. Seeing doc on friday so we'll see.

Good luck trying again, let us know how you get on.

Love, Clare xx
