Hunny ....... I have had a d/c and its not as bad as you think off. Its done very quickly and you have no pain when you awake. While you are in they give you something to stop you being sick. Or if you tell them before hand about the sickness then they will give you a differnet anaesthetic (anti sickness one)
You are down and back up to the ward very quickly. You will just feel a small prick in the back off your hand and they will ask you to count to 10 and i promise you will not be able to get to 3.
As for the local one. When i was in someone had that opition and she said that she was in more pain and she wished that she had had what we had all done. I have never had the local done myself i would much rather be a sleep to be fair.
Good luck hunny i will email later to see how ya are. Please dont be scared its not that bad i promise. Love and (((((((hugs))))))) Linzi xxxxxxx

Whole thread for the following message:

Hiya, Im going to EPU shortly & im 99% positive ill need a D&C has ive been bleeding brown blood which isnt heavy with no clots for almost 2 weeks now & HPT are still showing up strong HCG levels.
Ive read on the NHS direct website a D&C can be done under local anethestic (sp?)
I was just wondering if anyone else has ever had a D&C op to remove a baby without being put to sleep? I have never been put to sleep before & suffer with emetophobia (a phobia of vomiting) which is strongly stopping me going in for the operation asap because I want this m/c over with now so I can start to grieve.
Any experiences of a D&C are welcome, many thanks
A VERY scared Hellen xXx

I wasnt put to sleep with my d and c was wide awake they gave me some injection pain killer made me feel really woozy and wantd to sleep but i was determined to stay awake it was over pretty quick i admit dont wanna scare u but mine hurt well dont know if it hurt exactly but was pretty uncomfortable not nice feeling and worst thing was ride home after it felt very rough but after I got to my own bed within about 20 minutes was up and chirpy and eating and everything and bleeding virtually stopped since then well its been very light atleast and prior to that was bleeding so bad I think was a good decision to do it then.

I had the d and c after my 2nd m/c and its not as bad as I thought it was going to be either. I promise you you are back so quickly the procedure only takes approx 15 mins so its just the recovery and I wasn't sick as they put all these anti sickness drugs in to help. The anethestist - not sure how you spell it lol but the guy that puts in the anesthetic said that it was years ago that people used to get sick from drug at they never had anti sickness drugs so now it is extremely rare to be sick. I no its not nice but if it means you can move on and grieve then it has to be worth it. Hope this helps hun. Let me no how you get on. Vic xx
