I lost my baby when i was just over 9 weeks and had d and c 4 days ago now and today I got some pain and the blood was more than it has been for some days (sorry tmi) but the weirdest thing is now that my breasts are leaking quite alot it just started last night and still going this morning I dont know if this is normal I dont remember it happening after my ectopic but maybe thats because it wasnt in the right place. Has this happened to anyone else after a miscarriage? thanks

Hi,

I miscarried two days ago at 12 weeks, though the fetus only developed to 8 weeks, I was told after the ultrasound. This morning I found that I am lactating. It was such a shock, I am still having trouble understanding it. I wasn't registered on this site and found this thread by googling miscarriage and lactation. I'm not sure how common this is, but I guess it happens. This was my first pregnancy. I am so torn between hating the idea of being pregnant ever again, and desperately wanting to be pregnant and having a child with my fiance at the same time. I am quite unsettled by the fact that my body is so confused it is lactating.

If you find out any more info about what's happening, don't hesitate to share.
Sorry about your loss.
I just learned from all this (i.e. the 5hrs of awful pains, operation, and now this) that it's not so easy being a woman...

thanks it is weird I read that some pregnancy symptoms disappear when ur about to miscarry and this did happen to me the nausea went and tiredness as well and my boobs were really swollen and heavy but I noticed theyd gone back to normal just before i did miscarry but now its like theyre back with a vengeance I dont know theyre heavy again and now the leaking and its alot my OH noticed this morning as it was soaking through my top and he really started to freak out and worry about it I said it was probably nothing and my body is just confused as has no baby to feed now.

I miscarried two weeks ago at 10 wks - my nipples have become extremely itchy in the last week, no leaking but have very dry scaly skin under each nipple, don't know if this is normal either! - am just putting loads of moisturiser on - they're still a bit sore as well and huge! - sorry about your loss - I'm still very raw as only two weeks since my m/c, feeling very angry and numb, but this site is full of great advice and support.

take care luvvy

I'm sorry about your miscarriage.
I had a m/c about 2 months ago. I also noticed that I was lactating, but it only lasted for about 3 weeks. Although, the amount of milk that was excreted was far less than what you described.
I think you should wait a couple of weeks and if it hasn't subsided by then you should seek medical advice.

Hope I could help.
